Turning on a laptop with the lid closed

does anyone know any options, i have a laptop that i keep plugged into a monitor and rarly use it elseware. every time it hibernates or powers off i have to open the lid to reach the on button..the usb cordless keyboard and mouse i use will not turnit on..tx!

Disable sleep and hibernation?

1. Open Power Options by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Security, and then clicking Power Options.

2. On the Select a power plan page, click Change plan settings next to the selected plan.

3. On the Change settings for the plan page, click Change advanced power settings.

4. On the Advanced settings tab, double-click Sleep, double-click Sleep after, and then do one of the following:

   • If you're using a laptop, click On battery or Plugged in (or both), click the arrow, and then click Never.

   • If you're using a desktop computer, click Setting, click the arrow, and then click Never.

5. Double-click Hibernate after, and then do one of the following:

   • If you're using a laptop, click On battery or Plugged in (or both), click the arrow, and then click Never.

   • If you're using a desktop computer, click Setting, click the arrow, and then click Never.

6. If you also want the display to stay turned on, double-click Display, double-click Turn off display after, and then do one of the following:

   • If you're using a laptop, click On battery or Plugged in (or both), click the arrow, and then click Never.

   • If you're using a desktop computer, click Setting, click the arrow, and then click Never.

7. Click OK, and then click Save changes.

yea i know that tx., i want a power button so i can shutdown and turn on w/o opening the case, it appears i'd need a dock

i was able to doit by enabling usb wakeup in bios tx

Having the laptop running while the lid is closed is not a good idea because of heat. Or maybe you've solved this.

yes i did , and the heat was the issue tx, able to keep the lid closed now and power it down and up

when it sleeps (im running win10) it powers down, i have it set to sleep in30 min, then i just press any key on the wireless usb keyboard to wake it up..
