webfact Posted August 31, 2015 Share Posted August 31, 2015 Seven killed in pickup-lorry head-on crash in Roi EtThe NationBANGKOK: -- Five men and two women were killed when their pick-up truck lost control and ran against the traffic, crashing into an incoming lorry in Roi Et Monday morning, police said.Police said the accident happened at 6:30 am on the Roi Et-Surin Road in Suwannaphumi district.The accident happened on a bridge over the Nam Siew Canal. The two vehicles completely blocked the traffic on the bridge.Rescuers have to use iron cutter to remove five bodies from inside the pickup. Briggsy Posted September 1, 2015 Share Posted September 1, 2015 If you go over a hump-backed bridge (like many canal bridges in Thailand) at high speed, there is a tendency for your wheels to lose grip as the net downward force due to gravity and mass of the vehicle is counteracted by the upward velocity gained as you went up the bridge. Look in a mirror and you'll see the Tingtong guy. A flat tire, broken ballpoint, etc... can easily cause such an accident. It makes me sad when people lose their lives, no matter what nationality. And how many of TVF members have had accidents before? It's easier to point a finger.... Rest in peace, hope there's really something after life. But if it happened like that it doesn't make the pickup driver any less responsible. If a loaded truck lifts off on a hump back bridge, possibly the driver was going just a tad too fast?
