CDRM to inform the current situation to the embassies and foreign diplomats to Thailand today

The Council of Democratic Reform under the Constitutional Monarchy (CDRM) will inform the current national situation to embassies, foreign diplomats and deputy army officers to Thailand today.

CDRM Secretary Vinai Pattippayakul (วินัย ภัททิยกุล) will chair the meeting today to inform the present circumstances to the diplomats and embassies to Thailand again. CDRM leader Sonthi Boonyaratglin (สนธิ บุญยรัตกลิน) had already informed them once. He said the situation has changed, and thus, it is important to update the situation to the foreign envoys.

Around 18:00 hours today, General Bunsrang Niempradit (บุญสร้าง เนียมประดิษฐ์), the Deputy Supreme Commander, will chair the meeting to inform the national situation to foreign deputy armies to Thailand.

CDRM is preparing to clarify situation and inform the progress to diplomatic officers

The Council of Democratic Reform under the Constitutional Monarchy (CDRM) is preparing to clarify the present national situation and the progress of its operation to the foreign ambassadors and diplomatic officers this evening.

Police General Winai Pattiyakul (วินัย พัททิยกุล), the CDRM Secretary, will preside over the meeting. He said that such meeting was held once by General Sonthi Boonyaratglin (สนธิ บุญรัตกลิน), the CDRM Chief. However, the situation in Thailand has changed so the council would like to inform the progress to the general public once again at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

General Bunsrang Niempradit (บุญสร้าง เนียมประดิษฐ์), the Deputy Supreme Commander, will also chair a meeting, to clarify the military issues to the foreign army deputy commanders to Thailand at 6 PM today.

CDRM assures the international community that enforcement of the new constitution will be completed in nine months

The Council of Democratic Reform under the Constitutional Monarchy (CDRM) assures the international community that Thailand will enforce a new constitution in eight months and 15 days.

CDRM secretary-general Winai Patthiyakul (วินัย ภัทธิยะกุล) told diplomats and representatives of international organizations from 65 countries at a briefing yesterday that the drafting of a temporary charter has already been completed. He said the temporary charter under which the people’s assembly with 2,000 members will be set up to select their representatives to the constitution drafting council.

Gen. Winai said CDRM will become the national security council and its members will join the constitution drafting council.

He said the interim prime minister yet to be appointed must be well-rounded and possess good economic knowledge, be highly recognized internationally and has a clean background sheet.

Foreign Affairs Ministry promotes better understanding on CDRM w/ international community

The Director-General of the Department of Information under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Kitti Waseenon, presented updates on the outcome of the recent peaceful coup.

He also informed the meeting of the Council of Democratic Reform under the Constitutional Monarchy (CDRM) that the statement given by CDRM Chairman Sonthi Boonyaratglin on September 20th, coupled with news reports from various foreign news agencies in Thailand had indicated foreign countries were beginning to have a better understanding on Thailand’s political situation.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs would continue to proactively promote a clear understanding through various means.

Some of them include the meeting with the Diplomatic Corps on September 25th at 16:00 hours at the ministry, the meeting with the Military Attache Corps at the Supreme Command Headquarters on the same day, and the continuous support for Dr. Surakiart Sathirathai as a candidate for the United Nations Secretary-General appointment through the use of the central budget.
