Policeman kills supervisor over low evaluation results
The Nation

ROI ET: -- A policeman allegedly shot dead his supervisor Friday because he was unhappy with his performance evaluation results.

Pol Lieutenant Prawit Tonthong, 56, a deputy inspector at the Phon Thong Police Station in Roi Et province, repeatedly shot at Pol Lt-Colonel Phirawat Phumkipark, 45, in front of many other policemen while they were having a meal together.

During the meal, Prawit asked Phirawat about the evaluation, in which he was accused of negligence and not granted a pay raise.

Upon hearing Phirawat say, "Everything is concluded. No need to talk about it now", Prawit opened fire and then fled the scene. However, he returned soon and surrendered to face charges.

Where is the value of a life in Thailand? Such a stupid thing to kill someone for and these are the people who are paid to protect others. When will the Gov realize they need to find people who want to be in the police who really care and want to help others and value truth and justice and life and order.

About the same time the Gov realises they need to pay, train, and equip their police force enough that they don't need to resort to corruption on every conceivable level.

If you go to Thailand, give them ALL your money. Just buy the 40 baht T-shirt!!! Don't get the vendors mad!!!!

So many people working hard, saving for the great retirement .... then it's gone before it started.

be nice to everyone and give them your money!!! make them happy, not mad!!!!

Last year there was a wedding party in the village that we used to live in in thre countryside of Ubon. A 14 year old kid from another village came to the party with a couple of friends. He didn't like the face of a local 12 year old kid so he shot him in the head in front of everyone there.

(In this context "face" as in the Thai version of face.)

I still cannot believe it and I only saw the kid a couple of times previously. Everyone else in the village soon moved on and it was never mentioned again.

Life doesn't have the same value or meaning in Thailand as we give it, or certainly not as much as I value it.

A major issue with the police force and army in Thailand is that they don't reward the good guys. Because of endemic bribery, the honest ones are in the minority and often bullied and overstepped when it comes to promotions.

Not saying that happened here but I wonder if there was a long term beef with the younger superior.
