September 26, 200619 yr Goodday I am the holder of a work permit for the time being but due to low income I d'like to return it to the Labour Department. What's the best way to deal with the consequence regarding my stay in Thailand ? Am I allowed to make 2 visa runs afterwards or is there another better way, let's say converting my non B into a non O since I've been living defacto with a Thai lady for over 2 years now ? Kindly armin
September 26, 200619 yr You had best explain your current visa status if you want us to understand and reply
September 26, 200619 yr Living with a Thai lady does not qualify you for any visa status. As for making visa runs the fact you had a non immigrant B visa will not effect that unless you had an extension of stay and then the work permit return will result in your having to leave the country as your extension will no longer be valid. If you are here on a 90 day entry it will not be effected by the work permit.

Also I've heard after returning a work permit one have to leave within 7 days.
September 26, 200619 yr I've got an one year visa which expires soon.Do you know the difference between a one-year visa and an annual extension of stay?At the moment, it is still not clear which of the two you have. --------------- Maestro The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

It might be an annual extention of stay I guess.
September 26, 200619 yr Do you have to leave Thailand every 90 days? If you do you have a visa entry. If you do not have to leave Thailand you have an extension of stay - and that will end with the end of your employment and you will have a week to pack out.

So can I make visa runs after the visa expires or doI have to go to an Embassy outside Thailand in order to obtain another visa?
September 26, 200619 yr You will have to leave Thailand. To return you will require either a visa or if you are from a country allowed visa exempt entry you can enter on that basis.

So you don't know exactly. I am from a country that allows visa exempt entry, if you mean countries that allows one to stay 30 days on arrival. Vias run to be or not to be that's the question?
September 26, 200619 yr ....let's say converting my non B into a non O since I've been living defacto with a Thai lady for over 2 years now ? armin; as others have said, you probably won't get a Non-O unless you are married. Why don't you mahe it a special one and register your barraige in the Ampour in Bang Rak on Velentines day next year. Bang Rak means the place of love and normally there are gift packs for those who go to that ampour on Valentines day. It will cost 200B at the Ampout and a few thousand in translations etc. A divorce is cheap, should you change your mind a bit later
September 26, 200619 yr I said you either have to obtain a visa or to enter for a 30 day exempt stay. It is your choice which you do.
