French ambassador's residence open to public next Sunday
The Nation

BANGKOK: -- Every year, the European Heritage Days introduce visitors to the architectural richness and diversity of the most prestigious public buildings which are open just for this occasion.

For this year's visit, the Residence of the French Ambassador to Thailand and the Embassy's Chancery, perfect architectural link between the past and the future, will be open to visitors on Sunday September 20th 2015, from 10 am and 4 pm.

The theme, this year, will be "Heritage of the XXIst century, a history of future" in order to stress how the concept of heritage is part of a constant enrichment and a historical continuity, converting the latest conceptions into heritage for the future generations.

The public will also be able to discover the "1% artistic" work of art entitled "The Forest", commissioned to French contemporary artist Jacques Vieille; visit the "Extra Muros 2" exhibition by l'Institut Français, made of short films about French emblematic architectural constructions in the 21st century; and view the different construction stages of the French Embassy's chancery.

At the end of their tour of the Residence, visitors will be presented the book devoted to "The Residence of France in Bangkok", published in French and Thai languages by Les Editions Internationales du Patrimoine on the occasion of the 140th anniversary of the donation of the concession by King Chulalongkorn in 1875 to the French Republic.

The European Heritage Days will also be an opportunity to raise public awareness of the Paris Climate 2015 conference (COP 21), which will be held in France this coming December. An exhibition entitled "60 solutions to climate change" will show 21 photos by famous photographer Yann Arthus-Bertrand that highlight concrete solutions for the fight against climate change and a model of low-carbon growth.

Lastly, a contest of best photographs of "the Residence of France seen from its garden" taken by the visitors during that day (#JEPBKK) will be organized. The award is a copy of the art book on the "Residence of France".
