You can get a single entry non-o visa for being 50 or over in Penang.

You will need to show your financial proof. A Thai bank book showing 800k baht in the bank on the date of application or proof of 65k baht income or a combination of the 2 totaling 800k baht.

If you are marrried to a Thai you can get a multiple entry. 1 year visa, 800k not required. Penang has a very pleasent visa staff.

You need a Thai bank book showing 800k OR evidence of a 65k/month income usually evidenced by an Embassy letter or affidavit.

It seems I left one of the or's out of my.post which is now fixed.

It is 800k baht in the bank or 65k baht income.

If you have a Thai child you would not need any financial proof to get a single entry non-o. Just their birth certificate plus a copy and a copy of their house book registry.

whistling.gif You will need to show in Penang either:

  • 800K funds in a Thai bank account in your name OR
  • proof of 65K monthly income OR (i.e. as a monthly pension)
  • A combination of the two above that totals more than 800K Thai Baht annually

It is possible that Penang will only give you a 90 day visa only.

In that case you can obtain a a one year retirement visa/extension at your local immigration in Thailand by having the same documents available and the 90 day non o visa.

Once you have that annual visa//extension it can be renewed annually by showing the same funds for each annual extension

If you can provide a U.S. embassy income letter of MORE than 65K Thai Baht equivalent in monthly income they may accept that as proof of funds required.

But all that is at the agreement of the Penang consulate.

I believe the fee will be 5000 Baht for the visa if they will issue you one in Penang.

Just be aware however, that recently other things have also been asked for approval ..... such as proof of residence in Thailand.

if you have the funds, it is certainly going to Penang, and attempting it.
