kiwikeith
The pictures in the daily news show that the spot where the girl fell in to the canal has a meter safety high railing along the banks, so can a 13 years old good swimmer fall over a high railing and die? there's more than meet the eye there..... Looks like a murder rape to me.but no foresics yet.

balo
Or she could have fainted and fall into the water, many speculations, lets hope the infamous RTP will solve the mystery.
JoopJoop
1 meter high railing to faint over Balo? Jeez, you're one of the infamous four on the other thread. RIP young one and condolences to the family.
northernphil
I doubt if we will ever know what happened as she was on her own ,was missing then found in a canal lots of possibilities but I do wish folk would give the poor soul more ' so sad what a damn shame ' rather than ' must of been raped then drowned '. So sad for a young lass to die whatever the circumstances, just starting out on life to have it torn away.
springheeled jack
the police are very quick to come to a conclusion without ascertaining the facts an autopsy will no doubt give us the right answer.

shaurene
The police come to stupid assumptions all the time, you can bet they did not seal the area off. You would think after the 2 British murders that they would have had their ass kicked for not sealing that area off. They have to be the laughing stock in the country's that have proffesional Police that automatically seal an area off and not jump to stupid conclusions before they know for certain. Poor kid, God bless her.
Jeremy50
A girl of 13 goes out to play on her own on the overgrown banks of a filthy canal in tropical Bangkok, then somehow falls in and drowns despite being able to swim. Weird and suspicious to say the least.

Shermanator
Even though the RTP - due to the Koh Tao and bomb crime scene cockups and the 3m reward for nothing grab - have lost 99.9% of their credibility, there still is the chance of accidents happening from time to time. Not every dead body automatically is a rape/murder case. By jumping to premature conclusions and spreading hearsay you return credibility to the RTP what actually is counterproductive to change, respectively a long overdue and thorough "format C" of the RTP forces! RIP to the poor girl and sincerest condolences to family and friends. Edited September 14, 2015 by Shermanator

silent
From the pixelated picture it appears the young lady was nude, My first thought this young lady was raped and murdered. Now how many thai girls go swimming nude in canals here in Bangkok? For that matter who would swim in any water in Bangkok? Pixelation obscures the photograph so how do you know that she was naked, do your eyes have the power to de-pixelate? Didn't think so, so keep your unwanted and insensitive speculation to yourself. Here's a tip for you, click on the link and you will see that it is clear that she was fully clothed. Yes but some people tend to enjoy fabricating evidence and ignoring facts that don't fit their macabre theories. Had a mother-in-law like that........ (No, they finally put her away). TuskegeeBen
Heartbreaking. RIP. Can not imagine the pain for parents and friends. Why such a young life is taken away in such a way? Condolences to the family, of course. However, consider the following as an interesting perspective; as Billy Joel said in a song , "Only The Good Die Young"
ggt
I'm betting Thai Officials will conclude the girl's death to be a suicide...this is the "catch-all" conclusion for farangs...less paperwork...no lengthy investigation wasted on a foreigner...and no need to hunt down and arrest a nice Thai criminal...case close...this is Thailand... The flip side...is...if enough money comes into play...there may be an investigation...
oneday
R.I.P. young lady. "...Police have said they believe the cause of death to be drowning, stating the girl probably fell into the canal..." So, so, so typical. Too damn lazy to actually do a real investigation; like maybe talk with the friends she was playing with. If there was fowl play by any of the children there is a good chance one or more of them will look really guilty. It seems as if the police never want to do a real investigation or any investigation at all. With falang it's always suicide. No wonder people do not trust police. Life is incredibly cheap here. Sam Jones
Could be an accident but might as well be murder - amazing Police have to jump to conclusions even tho her mom say she is a good swimmer, guess they have to get back into their AC office and play online poker or watch porn ... RIP little girl - so sad for her family

alphaflight
I wouldn't accept their theory either. As soon as I read the headline I assumed it to be foul play. Quite honestly, after reading the headlines over the past year I would have a hard time believing anything they had to say....
Nick167
RIP to the poor soul. Hope that the truth eventually comes out as to what really happened. katana
In the Thai news the police are reported as saying the girl was autistic and had some sort of congenital disease which was being treated by doctors. Another article said she had learning difficulties and was prone to fits. On the evening of her disappearance she had gone off with her Thai mother from the restaurant they owned and lived in to clean a nearby house the family had bought but was currently empty. The girl wandered off from the house and a witness saw her sitting by the side of a nearby canal at the spot where her corpse was discovered the next day.Police said no injuries were found on her body and are leaning towards an accident caused by her medical condition although the family suspect foul play since they say she could swim. The body's been sent for an autopsy. The English father is a businessman based in Singapore.

Now how many thai girls go swimming nude in canals here in Bangkok? For that matter who would swim in any water in Bangkok? The Thai article states that she was fully clothed but missing a shoe. It also states that there was no visible sign of rape.Let's keep the speculation to a minimum please. RIP. Yeah, no kidding. Plus, Thai police are at the end of the day Thai people and- in an effort to seem competent- will always throw out a working theory before the facts are on the table, then sort things out later. "We don't know" probably isn't part of the RTP vernacular.
