NCPO has yet to discuss new composition of CDC

BANGKOK, 15 September 2015 (NNT) - The National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) has said in its televised program that there has been no discussion over who would be appointed to the new Constitution Drafting Committee (CDC).

NCPO Spokesperson Colonel Winthai Suwaree said a recent meeting between the NCPO, Cabinet members and the National Legislative Assembly (NLA) was held to discuss the timeframe for the draft charter.

The NCPO wants the draft to be expedited. Colonel Winthai said all factors involved will be taken into consideration regarding the possibility of expediting the charter drafting process.

As for the composition of the new CDC, the meeting did not discuss who would be selected for the committee, except that they would be chosen from various groups of people including politicians and civilians.

The NCPO also expressed its wish to have government projects and their budgets implemented with greater collaboration from related organizations.

The NCPO Spokesperson said later that those who have been summoned to report to the army for the attitude adjustment program were not abiding by the NCPO’s requests. Many have repeatedly committed the same offences. They will be detained no longer than seven days before being released.
