CNAC readies third list of corrupt officials

BANGKOK: -- DEPUTY Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam said the Centre for National Anti-Corruption (CNAC) would submit a third list of allegedly corrupt civil servants to the government.

He added that the people included in the first two lists were under investigation.

As for the cases of Community Development Department director-general Kwanchai Wongnitikorn and Chusak Tangsiripaiboon, director of Prachin Buri province's Office of Natural Resources and Environment, who have returned to their posts and are set to retire, Wissanu said the investigation would continue beyond their retirement.

They were brought back at the endorsement of Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha.

Meanwhile, the secretary to the Public Sector Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC), Prayong Priyachit, said the third list was being deliberated upon by the PACC, the National Anti-Corruption Commission and the Office of the Auditor-General. He said they were looking to identify public servants found allegedly involved in fraud and not disciplined.

He added that the matter would be discussed at the next meeting of the CNAC - which is presided over by Justice Minister Paiboon Koomchaya - in two weeks before it is forwarded to the government.

Such measures are being taken to increase scrutiny of government agencies where disciplinary action has not been taken, Prayong said, adding that if these measures were standardised and implemented, the use of Article 44, which grants sweeping powers to Prayut, would be unnecessary.

Great, and just what happened about the first two other than a couple of sideways moves ?

Everyone knows who will be on the lists and who will not be on the lists, regardless of actual corruption.

So, how goes that GPS survey on Koh Samui to prove the innocence of Suthep's clan in regards to land encroachment?

Where it has always been.

Nowhere.

Put some more on the list from Koh Tao and Surat Thani CNAC.

TV readers are mostly interested in the name. No names,...no story. coffee1.gif

These lists are one little step.
I'm waiting for the first case where a corrupt official must give the stolen / embezzled / ill-gotten / misappropriated money really back!
That would send a clear signal.
Also an early retirement / inactiv post / transfer, etc. should not protect these culprits, to give back the stolen taxpayers money.

Wonder how many names are on this list.

should make a list of not corrupt one....Easier to transport this 1 page....

As someone else said:

What happened to those on the first and second lists?

I know a company that has paid out over 70,000,000 baht in the last 10 years to govt offices to be above board/legal with what they do but are currently being stalled by the givts Bangkok office for their extension because the ones in charge want a very big amount payed to them to approve it. Everything has been approved by the local govt office and has been sent but the Bangkok office continually stalls and "loses" the paper work, they have openly said that if the owner comes up with a payment for them it will be finalized immediately, already been over a month since the original paper work was sent through with just signatures required. When the govt agencies are still requiring millions in payment to do what their actual job entails you really have to wonder just how well this corruption chasing is going, the owner is too scared to say anything in case he loses his business, he has already paid the required amounts to get it to this stage but the big govt boss want a fortune just to sign it.

It's been said many times, but worth repeating. When will civil servants lose their retirement rights (pension) if caught with a hand in the cookie jar?
