AYJAYDEE
My friend from Canada wants to fly into BKK and get a 30 day exempt, travel for a month and go to Burma and then travel there for awhile. Can he then re-enter Thailand by land and get another 30 day exempt as a citizen of a G7 country?

gk10002000
Others have posted that back to back Visa exempt stamps will not be issued. Granted, the timeframe seemed to be an immediate exit, turn around, and re-enter back into Thailand on the same day, i.e. a typical border run with lunch at the casino say at Poi Pet crossing. So if, and I do mean if immediate turn- arounds are being refused, what is considered a non-immediate turn-around? Would a one night stay in Cambodia be Ok to then turn around and go back into Thailand? two nights? one week? Any guidance or official statement or actual turn around visa exempt experience would be helpful? (USA citizen am I) Thanks

Repeated attempts at obtaining visa exempt entries arise suspicion about what, exactly, a person is doing and how that activity is being funded. stoneyboy
In the light of the recent clampdown on visa exempt entries it would be best to obtain a double entry tourist visa before travelling,it will make life easier in my opinion. That is what the current powers that be are trying to enforce hence the advent of the forthcoming multi entry tourist visa.

Repeated attempts at obtaining visa exempt entries arise suspicion about what, exactly, a person is doing and how that activity is being funded. I am well aware of the tourist visa options. That was not my question. To answer your question; it is because it is not easy for me to get the tourist visa in advance. (1) My trips literally happen overnight as my contracts end usually without notice. (2). I am no where near an embassy or consulate so dropping off and picking up the next day is not an options. (3). I don't like mailing my passport around if I were to mail in my applications. The visa exempt suits my purposes fine for the last decade. On a few trips I extended my stay and a simple visa run was fine with me. Yes I know I can now pay for the extension one time instead of making a border run. Yes I am aware of the recent clamp down. But nobody on Thai visa seems to have done any sort of back to back visa exempt run lately, and nobody has reported on how long one might have to wait before entering again. that is why I question the first answers to the OP. He is planning on leaving and coming back all on visa exempt. So saying that he won't have any problems is fine, but my natural question is how soon can a person leave and then come back in? One week stay in Cambodia? One week stay in Vientienne? More time? Less Time?

ClutchClark
I traveled on a 30-day visa exemption. I arrived on 15/10. I departed on 15/11. Was this a one or two day overstay? I was charged for two days. Thank you
KhunBENQ
Was this a one or two day overstay? Two days. Nominally you should have departed on Nov 13. The day of arrival and departure are included in the count. So don't fall in the trap of simply doing the difference. Arriving today Nov 16, leaving tommorow Nov 17. 17 - 16 = 1 But its two days.
