PHNOM PENH, Sept. 22 (Xinhua) -- Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen said on Tuesday that the country is expected to greet up to 8 million international visitors in 2020 with an estimated revenue of 5 billion U.S. dollars that year.

The Southeast Asian nation welcomed 4.5 million foreign tourists in 2014, generating a gross revenue of nearly 3 billion U. S. dollars.

"We predict that the country will attract 5 million international tourists this year and up to 8 million tourists, including at least 1.3 million Chinese tourists, in 2020," he said at the closing ceremony of a national tourism conference.

The tourism industry would earn a gross revenue of 5 billion U. S. dollars in 2020 and create nearly one million jobs, he added.

Meanwhile, the prime minister called on related authorities to do all their best to ensure security and safety for all tourists.

Cambodia is famous for the 12th-century Angkor Wat Temple, which was included on the UNESCO's World Heritage List in 1992.

It also has a 450-km pristine coastline listed as one of the World's Most Beautiful Bays.
