I'm a British national, living in Thailand, and applying for visit visa for my Thai husband to visit the UK for 2 months with our baby daughter.

My parents are the sponsors, they will provide accommodation. In the sponsor letter, can I also get them to say that they will be bearing the costs of the trip. My husband will be paying for his airticket only.

My husband has an average monthly income of 70,000bt, and savings of around 250,000bt. I'm worried this will be on the low side to say that he will be funding the trip, so we feel more comfortable if we say that my parents will bear the costs of the trip. As they have ample funds for this.

If my parents show 6months of bank statements (showing enough income and savings), will the embassy accept a print out of online bank statements?

Or would have to be a photocopy of a bank account book?

The UKVI do state that documentary evidence should be originals and not copies, that said a number of forum members have advised that online statements have been submitted with applications and that Entry Clearance has been granted.

You say that you could get your parents to write a note acting as financial sponsors, are they actually providing support?

You state that your husband has a monthly income of 70,000 Baht, is that from employment, if so is he able to take two months off from this employment, it's a long holiday.

Visitor: supporting documents guide says

All documents must be originals and not photocopies.

However, as theoldgit says, anecdotal evidence suggests that the ECOs are not as strict in applying this for visit applications as they are in settlement ones.

To expand on what theoldgit says about your husband's work; he should provide evidence that he is able to take two months off. If employed, a letter from his employer confirming this.

That letter can be written in either Thai, with an English translation, or English. But the ECO may wish to speak to it's signatory and if it's in English will doubt it's authenticity if that person is unable to speak to them in English. If it's written in Thai they will be happy to speak to the signatory in Thai.

English or Thai, the letter should be on company headed paper with contact details for the signatory.

We had our UK Visit Visa accepted 2 weeks ago. I downloaded 6 months statements online. Printed them off, scanned them and emailed them to my girlfriend who printed them off and presented them with our supporting documents.

We didn't have any problems.

In reality, we will probably be paying for all our expenses, my parents are just providing accommodation. But I'm concerned my husbands income and savings are on the low side, so to be on the safe side, I'd prefer to say that my parents are funding the trip (except for airfare, as my husband can show he has enough money for that).

My husband has a small business as a tour operator, its not actually a company, but he has a license to run this. In the application we will state that we are leaving the business to one of our staff to run, whilst away, and provide copy of his id card and tour guide license. Also we are going in the tourism low season here (April-May)

In addition, provide evidence of any property he owns; such as business premises and the house where you both live.

Also evidence of your immigration status in Thailand, i.e. a copy of your passport and Thai visa, and your employment there, if any, to show that you, too, will be returning to Thailand and there is no intention of your husband using a visit visa to enter the UK and then remain there with you.
