Pattaya upgrading telephone system

PATTAYA:--Pattaya is upgrading the city’s telecommunications system by moving to Internet-based telephone infrastructure it says will provide better and faster service to callers to the 1337 Call Center line.

City Manager Wuttipol Charoenpol hosted a presentation from Master Make Call Co., the city’s main telecommunications provider, on the upgrade to the Internet Protocol-based Grandstream equipment.

Only called 1337 a couple of times and found the service OK, though it did take 3 weeks for the reported street lamp to get fixed. This upgrade seems like a way to upgrade a few peoples pocket money me thinks as the system works unlike the CTV cameras and pedestrian controlled crossings. Maybe there is no kickback for maintenance.

I wonder how well the one gateway is going to work with this new telephone system. Seems like everyone is jumping on the internet telephony bandwagon without paying much attention to the lousy Internet infrastructure here
