Cannot access member area of a web site with True but can with TOT?

Featured Replies

Hi,

Not sure why, but I have a third party web site I sometime logon to member area. Public area is OK for all ISPs. It works ok with TOT line, but not when I am on True. Anyone can explain why this should be? If I use a VPN I can get by the True problem, but I should be able to use True Online straight as it is a legitimate organistion based in Singapore?

Sometimes access to web-based services are affected by what DNS your device uses, or the routing path the ISP utilizes to deliver the data packets.

Is the 'Public area' and 'Member area' hosted on the same url resolved IP address? If not, this might explain why there could be an access difference.

Also some TRUE Internet subscribers routinely run into issues with True's use of a 'Transparent Proxy' to cache repeatedly accessed data.

Try to access your sites using https

Thanks for the helpful reponse RichCor.

I'm not sure about https method? If I type that at beginning of URL I get told not to by my web browsers. Both member and public start with same server address.

I tried various DNS numbers and all result in the same, so I suppose your suggestion of 'Transparent Proxy' maybe the issue. I asked the web master of said site and they responded they couldn't be responsible for the issues related to a Thai ISP (True). It looks like I will not renew my membership with this brush off from them.

Thanks for your more helpful answer nevertheless.

HTTP connections can be 'cached' by any routing systems along your destination. HTTPS connections, being encrypted, can't be cached by any routing systems ... but this would only help if the web service you were connecting to also supported https type connections.
