90 day medical extension Jomtien

Featured Replies

I just had surgery in Bangkok at Bumrungrad. They offerred to take care of the medical extension for me, but would require me to stay in Bangkok and go to Chaeng Wattana with them. I would prefer to handle it in Jomtien if possible. They gave me a medical certificate from my doctor that says I'm not fit to travel for 90 days. I read a few threads that indicated there is other paperwork to be filled out in addition to the medical cert, can anyone confirm? I also noticed in another thread that a poster said that Jomtien will only extend for 30 days at a time, but it was a one-off post.

Has anyone successfully gotten a 90 day medical extension from Jomtien recently?

In my opinion it would be best to let them help you get it at Chaeng Wattana. The hospital is familiar with their requirements and procedures.

I think you will find Jomtien will have other paperwork that will need to done other than just the paperwork you have.

The number of days you get is at immigration's discretion based upon the documents provided.

better to do it in bangkok as you are not fit to travel

hmm- the roundtrip taxi to bangkok + waiting in chaeng wattana would likely workout to more of a hassle at the same price as a private taxi border run, which would give me another 90 days on my non-b...

cheers

There are a few options, but I cannot know if they will work out.

I recall talking to a UK guy in Jomtiem who seemed to have a 90 day visa based on medical treatment, not convalescence, although he seemed fit enough!

He had the help of one of those Visa agencies......

I wonder in the BHP could help out.

I had to do one at jomtien about a year ago and it was fairly routine. The medical certificate from the doctor must be in Thai AND in addition to your general medical condition state that you are unable or unfit to fly.

As Joe said, generally they extend stays in 30 day increments.Easy to do oneself with the medical cert.
