Hi. I am due to go to Laos in a few days and am currently here on a single entry re-entry permit. Yes, I should have got a multi. Can I get a new one at the border or do I need to go to Immigration? I need to drop off my hire car in Udon before heading to Laos, so this would convenient if the border is not an option. Does it take long? Thanks.

I think he got a single re-entry permit and entered entered the country using it.

There is a re-entry permit desk at the Nong Khai crossing. Not sure about the hours if is open.

The visa is expired but an O-A gives one year entries and I entered in April. This gave me a permission to stay until April 2016. The re-entry permit keeps the permission to stay alive.

A re-entry permit is issued for a permit to stay. The visas validity means nothing once you have a permit to stay from it.
