Letter of Approval labour department.

Featured Replies

I want to try and apply for a Non-Imm B visa for a company in Bangkok for which I already have all the necessary documentation however I still require the letter of approval from the labour department. After a week of asking additional documentation (copy of my degree for a non teaching job...) they informed the company that they can't issue the letter of approval while I am still in the country. I am currently on a Tourist Visa is there any way to get the letter of approval without me having to stay 10 days or longer outside of Thailand?

Thanks.

Are you certain the WP has actually been applied for ?

Yes but supposedly it's not possible to use WP3 application form (for the letter of approval) while staying in Thailand? Will the company be able to use WP1 and apply on my behalf? The problem is that on the WP1 application it states that you can only use Non immigrant visa's ...

WP3 requires the applicant to be outside the country while WP1 requires the applicant to have a Non immigrant visa while I am currently on a TR visa.

edit: I was just thinking that I have two passports and that it might be possible to apply using the wp3 for my other passports which I am currently not using.

- Leave Thailand on my Dutch passport at Laos (current Tourist visa only danger is changing passports at land borders)
- Enter Laos with my British passport
- Apply for non immigrant B using British passport.
- Enter Thailand on non imm B visa.

The non immigrant visa mentioned on the WP1 is to have the work permit issued. Many people have used a WP1 without a non immigrant visa.

Swapping passports at a border crossing is not possible. Thai immigration looks for a Thai departure stamp and entry/departure stamps for the other country when you enter the country.

So would you recommend to try using the WP1 with the tourist visa then? And is it possible for the company to apply without me being there?

Otherwise it would mean having the leave the country and wait for the application to be processed and then EMS the approval letter to wherever I am staying. In total that would be at least 10 days possibly more depending on weekends.

Yes try to do the WP1 application.

The company can do the WP1 application for you if you sign the power of attorney for them to do it but they will normally need your passport when it is done.

The power of attorney is in this file for the WP1 application, http://wp.doe.go.th/wp/images/form/Form_tt1.pdf
