Thai Post - EMS- Tracking

Anyone understand how the EMS Tracking system works here?

I posted a 1 page document - normal sized letter to the UK, it cost 950 Baht and was given a tracking number.

In the past I have posted within Thailand via EMS for less than 50 Baht and have been able to track the letter from collection to delivery and even see who signed for the delivery.

For 950 Baht, the package seems to have disappeared as soon as it reached Swampy sort facility!

Anyone know how or if it can be tracked after arriving at Swampy Airport?

Will there ever be a final "Delivered" status for 950 Baht or is it just pot luck?

Cheers.

The problem or issue is that the Royal Mail do not offer point to point tracking on most items, they only enter AFTER its been delivered as proof of delivery, in most cases.

Cheers,

I suspected it was some sort of incompatibility. Do you have any idea how long after you get the message from EMS "RECEIVED AT SWAMPY" it actually takes to get to the delivery in the UK? Basically my EMS tracking ends after receiving at Swampy, there are no details of it leaving basically you get "Container Received" and that is it? I wondered how EMS compared to something like DHL as the pricing is pretty much the same, but DHL have better tracking internationally. (as far as I can see)

Thanks!

Try to enter the Thai Post International EMS Tracking # into the British postal service (whatever it's named) online tracking service. It works when I EMS to the US and enter the Thai Post EMS tracking # into USPS.com. it shows article arrival stateside and each waypoint until final destination delivery.

You can check your package until delivery using the Thai Tracking system. This is a package I just recently sent.

If sent by EMS the 13 digit code will start with EE

This has been my experience too in many instances (not only EMS but others like USPS). You see the point it leaves a country, and then radio silence, then it appears at your doorstep and only gets updated online later in the day. It's a bit hit and miss though, and not always the same level of detail.

Sometimes 5 days with standard mail, sometimes several weeks (internal to Thailand usually 1-2 days)..

I'm waiting for a package right now from HK that suggests between Oct 4th (a Sunday) and Oct 20th (when I won't be here). Would be nice to have a bit more clarity so I could plan.

I use DHL for all international mailing/shipping. I don't trust Thai Mail.

Just the opposite. Always had problems with UPS/DHL, especially when i ran a UK engineering business 89-03. Royal Mail far better. Ditto over here, UPS/DHL/FedEx are a pain in the arse especially with customs duties involved. Thai EMS has proved consistently very reliable.

Back to the OP, i have always been able to track, direct to the final destination (inc abroad) using their Thai website and your individual EMS number. Occasionally things sit in limbo for 24 hours, but keep checking.

Alas, I've seen no evidence that this works when going from the US to Thailand. EMS is a worldwide system, and the US postal tracking system is 100% compatible. Thai post seems not to enter the tracking info upon receipt of anything here in LOS. Once it leaves the states (or wherever?), you get nothing, unless and until it shows up at its destination. Many times, for me, nothing arrives.

Outbound EMS tracking may work, assuming the receiving country bothers to track the package. But for mail inbound to LOS, it's expensive and worthless, so save your money. Sending something to LOS registered, or via UPS, would likely be more reliable.

Going from Thailand and too Thailand are two different things. You cannot track a USPS package in Thailand after it has left the US.

Well you could knock me down with a feather!

I did what you suggested, with much doubt, but entering the EMS code into the UK Parcelforce website is actually tracking the parcel! You live an learn. What I don't understand is why it appears to have left Swampy on the 10th and is still nowhere to be seen on the UK or EMS site, could it be on a hot air balloon or a hang glider?

Sorry to hijack this but rather than start another thread as its related, does anyone know how to track an item posted with Singapore post omce its entered Thailand. On Singapore Post it says arrived in the country, but when I enter the same number in Thai post website it doesnt recognise it. Is it possible to track or des it then just become normal post?

Thailand Post typically updates postal items from outside the country once they have been delivered or when an attempt at delivery has been made. Usually, when the latter happens, you will get a card in your mailbox saying that delivery has been attempted and to go collect it at your local post office with your ID. In my experience, it can take 7 to 10 days for anything to arrive at the door after it has been received at the airport and I am less than 2 hours from the airport.

it's only expensive and worthless when you use the US Postal Service. They used to offer end-to-end tracking on cheaper services but now they only offer it on their most expensive offering - International Priority Express is it? The Royal Mail charge just £9.75 for small parcels that are tracked from the moment they arrive in Thailand until they reach your home. I think the USPS charge around $50 for a similar service. No idea why because they don't do any of the work once it's been loaded on a plane to Thailand. I realise the fact that the Royal Mail in the UK offer a much better service is of little use to you but you did say that the Thai post don't enter tracking info for anything received in Thailand and it's simply not true.
