A black magician was jailed 20 years for public fraud and sexually assaults



BANGKOK: -- A man who claimed to be an expert in black magic was sentenced to 22 years and eight months imprisonment after he was found guilty of public fraud, fraud and illegal possession of firearms by the Criminal Court.

His four female assistants were also given jailterms ranging from one year to 20 years.

The five defendants namely Thanawat Asawaponsuwan or Arjarn Karawek Thepnathong, Mrs Chuthatip Asawaponsuwan, Ms Sumitra Narubodin, Ms Satiyaporn Chua-asa and Ms Trisukhon Sawatsome were accused of deceiving eight victims, mostly women, into believing that Thanawat was a black magician who could administer love potions and other black magic tricks.

Thanawat was also accused of sexually raping some of the victims while they sought his advice for love potions.

The five defendants were ordered by the court to pay their victims 2.5 million baht in compensation.

But since the law prescribes the maximum jailterm at 20 years, the combined imprisonment of all the offences for Thanawat was automatically reduced to 20 years.

Maybe I am missing something here or it's a lousy translation but is there a difference between sexual rape and non-sexual rape?

It seems the judge didn't love him as well. He should have give him a love potions.....

The word rape is anyway getting meaningless when every country is changing the meaning (like Sweden).
