BANGKOK: -- Thai Football Association president Worawi Makudi has been asked to pull out of the election of the association president this coming Saturday after he was banned by Fifa’s ethics committee from involvement in all football activities for 90 days.

Sports Authority of Thailand governor Sakol Wannapong said Tuesday that he personally believed that Mr Worawi was not qualified to contest the election this Saturday because of the Fifa’s ban which is applied to all football activities locally and internationally.

Whether Mr Worawi plans to appeal against the Fifa’s ruling is a totally different matter, said Mr Sakol, adding that the election committee of FAT should consider Mr Worawi’s qualification in light of Fifa’s decision.

He also said that the Saturday election should not be postponed because Fifa’s decision only concerned Mr Worawi. He suggested that the association vice president should take over to oversee the election as two other candidates namely Mr Thawatchai Sajjakul and Pol Lt-Gen Pisant Chuladilok are still vying for the association’s presidency.

Mr Sakol warned that Fifa might take action against Thailand if the FAT allows Mr Worawi to contest the poll pointing out that the Thai national soccer team is yet to play in the pre-Olympic and World Cup selection competitions.

It is amazing that he needs somebody to tell him to stay out of the election. If he had any sense of reality and honor, he would already announced himself that he would step down.

At last some sanity. We will now see if the Thai FA prefers keeping their sugar daddy in control or playing in international events.

If for face he insists on standing and is allowed to do so i would suggest Fifa will ban LoS from all Fifa activities and competitions.

i wonder if the Thai attitude to bans will prevail or as 15Peter20 says will it be sanity ?
