I was today at the local Amphoe and wanted to get a document which should make me the Legal father of 2 of my Thai mixed boys. 8 and 12.

So far so good, got some writing from an official in the Amphoe, that in Thai confirms - so I understood,

that I am the father of the children and live with them and my GF.

2 witnesses had my GF to bring who had to confirm that too.

Is that now the right paper? Its a written statement and stamped from the Amphoe.

But, I am still unsure, in my GF's translation I did not hear -Legal father-.

Can someone please clarify. Thank you.

From personal experience I would have to say no.

You have to go through the court process,I had to attend court in front of a judge to legitimise my daughter.

I did have to go to the apmhur after court to obtain more paper work.

Did the two children accompany you to the Amphur and did the officials speak to the children ?

When the children are over 7 years old and the mother and the children recognizes you as the father you can do it at the Amphur, no need for court.

Indeed I didn't take the children's age into account my daughter was a baby.

Going to the Amphur does make you the legal father of your child but I do not think that it gives you any parental rights in Thailand I became the legal father by the Childrens Court(my son was only 4 years old) but according to 2 Thai lawyers it did not give me any parental rights I when back to the Childrens Court because I needed to get 100% parental right which I did get

Sure they went with us and it was spoken to them from official.

Clearly you do not read Thai. Any formal document provided by a Thai Authority will be written in Thai.
