Thailand Elite Service Problems (Airport Shuttle)

Featured Replies

Hello All,

Has anyone experienced this yet? (The TE Staff told me many have called and has this same problem!) I searched this site and google without seeing it posted.

I attempted to schedule for Airport Shuttle Services today using Thailand Easy Access (TEA) and was told ONLY for incoming International Flights. I'm taking a Domestic Flight and they refuse to schedule the shuttle stating "it's policy"... Oh course I asked where is the policy (knowing this staffer has not a clue and just beats the drum)... annoyed.gif

This bait-n-switch crap is pissing me off wacko.png as this is the only other benefit I found viable besides the 5 Year PE Visa.1zgarz5.gif

Ok, this is another letdown from TE... All the paperwork received by email/member package and on the website states: 24 trips from hotel/residence to airport and airport to hotel/residence. In the Spring, I tried to schedule Service from my condo to DM finding out they only support going to Swampy... Then I was told if from Swampy, I can schedule services... From the TEA document received (Stating no change since last year):

There is different levels of membership, I went through each of them and found ON the INDIVIDUAL PLAN (20 year) it states shuttle transfer from International Flights not listing a restriction: http://www.thailandelite.com/downloadable_form_file/downloadable_form_file1.pdf

In general, over the years I have noticed and first hand experienced some "bait and switch" in Thailand, and it often involves booking or paying for a premium room, then upon arrival there are none but they will give you a different lower class of room. No price adjustment of course. Or in my case I booked and paid for a VIP bus seat. The next day the bus arrived and they only had Non-VIP seat. I personally have doubts about the validity of any Thai contract or agreement going into the future. No doubt some or maybe many are fine and proper.

Thais not living up to what they promised, who would have thought

TE card is what it is. Maybe you need to read all the inclusions and exclusions and become familiar with it all.

I hear what your saying, but it's a case of learn to live with it or you'll just stress over it.

Probably why I and most long term expat "residence" treat the Thai Elite card with the contempt it deserves.

Elite Card told me last year that limo services can not be used for domestic pickups and at the time AirAsia was still operating out of Swampy.

Website doesn't mention domestic flights, or Don Muang:

Maybe they have updated the wording to cover these issues??

For as long I have been a TE member it has been this way. Stated clearly on the website under Limousine benefits:

http://www.thailandelite.com/privilege_detail.php?id=139&t=8&name=Limousine

One further restriction is the pick-ups can only be used if the TE member is travelling, so cannot be used to collect friends family.

Been a TE member for over 10 years, it has always been the policy with no transfer service for Domestic Flights. It states clearly "International Flights", not sure which part you are confused about? It doesn't specifically say "no domestic" but you just have to assume its "international flights" only or else they would have stated domestic and international.

I can confirm.

Only international flights, arrivals and departures.

I use that service since 12 years.

Very happy with it.

By the way, the service is designed to make the member feel welcome when arriving in Thailand, as well as to accompany him (to the plane) when he goes abroad.

It is not a service designed to replace a taxi drive when flying domestic.

Would be nice to have that service on domestic flights too, but it would not be possible at the present membership price.

When i took the Thai elite they told me no domestic only international flight transfers. It was also in the papers that i signed.

Or in my case I booked and paid for a VIP bus seat. The next day the bus arrived and they only had Non-VIP seat.

At least you can be grateful, I suppose, that it actually was a bus which showed up and not a tuk-tuk!laugh.png

I suppose i would be classed as a long term " resident " and think its a good idea and if i wasnt working here and needed a "solution" to stay long term i would buy it, certainly the 5 year version

They need to add a personal concierge premium service for people that need that little extra bit of hand holding.

Wow,

Lot's of reply's... Thanks for the link on the TE site about limo service... Unfortunately, it was not clearly discussed by TE staff at time of membership and last March (when I asked for shuttle to DM). I specifically asked if out of Swampy can use the service, they said "yes"... But language barriers always causes us problems ;) // Like buying a car... Me: Does the car run? Staff: Sure, the car run... I was not expecting to ask: ME: Does the car run excellent with no problems, all maintenance done, fluids are not leaking, etc... after reading the provided sales documents... Staff: ??? //

When I receive documents emailed from TE stating what I get from membership as attached to my OP, then learning different standards from the site linked by Chris2224, it feels a bit like a bait-n-switch... I only wished to been informed before hand to make decision knowing the black-n-white... I sometimes forget in Thailand we are in Grey most of the time... That is why I asked on here after not getting a clear answer from the TE staff yesterday other than "It's Policy", where I ask please, "It's Policy"

Thanks all...
