Entries and days in 6 month as tourist (visa and visa exemption)

Featured Replies

Hi everybody,

I already spent 75 days under a tourist visa in the last 4 month and I plan to go back to Thailand in November.

Will they allow me to enter into the Kingdom for 30 days under the Visa Exemption (I'm French) or not ?

Will they allow me to enter for 14 days instead ?

I don't understand if I have the right to travel in Thailand as a tourist (visa + visa exemption) for 90 days in a period of 6 months or if I have like 180 days per year as a tourist.

I really need an answer, because that will change my plan (and before I buy my flight ticket).

Thanks for your answers and chok dee !

Tony

The 90 days in 6 months for visa exempt entries was rescinded about 7 years ago. There is no limit on how much time you can spend in the country on tourist visas or visa exempt entries.

  • You qualify for and should be granted a 30 day stay if entering under visa exempt entry.

Your airline might not let you fly if you don't have a visa and don't have an onward ticket dated within 30 days.

There is currently no limit about how long you can stay as a tourist.

So, I guess I can go and get a 30 day stay visa exempt entry. My purpose is to apply to a thai language school, but I would like to apply while I'm there. So I plan after those 30 days to move out the Kingdom and going to a consulate (like Vientiane) to apply for my ED visa after doing all the papers.

So if I have a ticket for another country and not an onward ticket, will that work too ?

Yes an onward flight to any country would be ok.
