The onditions denpends on the treaty, but normally one has to serve at least a certain amount of the sentence in Thailand, beofre you are allowed to go back to your own country. In your own country a judge will then sentence you to a prison term that would be normal under the law of your own country for the offense you where convicted for. You don't serve the Thai sentence, but the sentence is being "translated to the norm under the law of your own country, and that sentence you serve in your own country.
