BANGKOK: -- Police have admitted that the remaining suspects in the two bombing incidents in Bangkok may not be arrested because they are mostly foreigners and they do not have families in Thailand.

Pol Lt-Gen Prawut Thavornsiri, spokesman of the National Police Office, said on Wednesday that the only possible way to have them tracked down was through the diplomatic channel and through the Interpol.

He disclosed that the Thai Foreign Ministry had contacted the Turkish embassy in Bangkok and the Thai embassy in Turkey to help examine a pile of passports seized from an apartment room of one of the suspects and to help track down two wanted suspects who are believed to be in Turkey namely Ms Wanna Suansan and Arbutusata Aburahman or Izan.

Arrest warrants have been issued by the court for the arrest of more than 10 suspects involved in the Erawan Shrine and Sathon pier bombings. So far, only two of them are being held in detention.

As for Aod Payoongwong or Yongyuth Pobkaew, one of the suspects wanted by police in connection with the bombing incidents, the police spokesman said there was no updated information about his whereabouts.

Also, police have no clue about a foreigner spotted carrying a rucksack at the Bangkok military court recently.

It difficult because all the reward money as been distributed. If more rewards will be offered, the escaped goats will be framed by tomorrow.... I mean evidence will be gathered...Look, we will announce the arrest of suspects, any suspects.

The person wandering about the Bangkok Military Court with a back pack is of concern, as he could have been be a CIA agent looking for the single gateway ,however that incident itself can show everyone how well security is managed , unless there is a extradition agreement with the countries concerned you would be whistling Dixie trying to get them back to Thai , it may be more important to increase the surveillance of those students and decenters of the Junta.. coffee1.gif

This is solved. 2 different people both re enacted the crime wearing tellow t shirts.......

Wonder what quality of evidence the RTP are feeding to interpol and whether interpol are merely humoring them.

Seems like this case doesn't want to be touched with a barge pole now that 2 lots of reward cash has been dished out.

As comical and ineffective as the RTP are, would any of you prefer to trade them for America's trigger happy, Jack Bauer wannabe police?

I certainly would. You would at least have professionals. Maybe not all are in America but a hell of a lot more than here. You can't pay for a promotion there. Tell me how many US cops have you see driving a Benz or have 2 or 3 homes ?

Of course they might not get arrested. Their stories might blow the whole case apart for the RTP. I guess B6m was divied out to the right people.

And they cannot use the military, because that would mean it was terrorists!

People who plant or aid in the planting of bombs are generally referred to as terrorists.

I know from personal experience Interpol only handles clearly worded requests etc and won't pass on nonsense.

Of course if the BIB have botched Interpol requests the public will never know and similarly if Interpol hasn't been / won't be contacted that will be kept quiet too and they can keep on churning out meaningless BS.

Not in Thailand.

If they actually specified this as a case of international terrorism they would get all the cooperation they needed with the international legal obligations it infers.

I thought they did not want to classify it as an act of terrorism because it would affect tourism.....thats the normal excuse for hiding the facts.

Exactly - hence why they won't get full cooperation from other countries and international agencies.

If you issue an international arrest warrant for international terrorism it gets noticed and acted upon - issuing one for 'being a bit of a nuisance' probably goes straight in the bin.

why have the 2 not been charged in court if they are so sure?

my reading is that they keep on going for 12 day extensions

Not enough evidence for the prosecution?

or

Don't know what to charge them with?

Oh sorry!

Case closed

And they earlier rewarded themselves? The epitome of official corruption! They are a world wide joke!

A pity that the few good ones are outnumbered by the "other side" coffee1.gif

Sorry to get technical on the BIB, but has any one person been named and charged as the bomber? "Remaining suspects" is not the stuff of police professionalism. it's been over two months and the BIB are totally ignorant. Am I correct in saying that?

Well, seeing the retired police bossman's mug is the one showing in the photo, either he is still uncertain of his status - or anything else, for that matter - or the article is old hat.

It isn't the retired police chief in the pic, it's the deputy
