Trickcyclist
Getting up to a dozen calls a day from local mobile phone numbers, different callers both male and female. First 2 digits from caller either 08 or 09. Caller speaks in incomprehensible Thai then hangs up. Seems to come from boiler room type operation as one can hear multiple voices in background. When number called back a recording in Thai and English says:"Number not yet in service." Any other members experienced anything like this? If so:- Who are the callers? Why are they calling? Where are they calling from? What do they want? Its obviously some kind of scam but what kind? Phishing? Credit card fraud?Identity theft? Hacking? Feedback from police contact advises that Thailand, due to new ASEAN rules, has been inundated with foreigners operating all kinds of scams. Any feedback would be appreciated Thanks

h90
If the numbers are sometimes the same, just block every number. (easy on my android) If it is complete random....no luck. I have some investment company....they don't show number, just the country code.....luckily a country I blocked just these 3 digits.

RichCor
Have you made any changes to your SIM card recently. It could be a boiler-room cold-calling and faking the caller-ID, or it could be a SIM card (phone account) provisioning error.
cyberfarang
There was a time when I started receiving wrong number calls from Thais. It seemed that a building contractor had a similar number. At first I would get my girlfriend to take the calls and explain to them they have a wrong number. But the calls persisted and decided to have some fun. When more calls came I answered and started having any conversation with them in very fast English. Each time they said in Thai, what`s happening and I continued speaking a load of crap to them in English, one being telling them my aunt Dolly died in a tragic golf ball accident. I began looking forward to more calls, then after a week they stopped. I guess that the builders customers must have complained asking; who is that Farang jerk that keeps answering the phone? Try it, it works and have fun into the bargain at their expense.
