Very Quiet Air-Conditioning

Featured Replies

I am looking for some very quiet (silent would be good) A/C for a new build, both inverter and non-inverter from 9,000 BTU up to 24,000 BTU.

Previously I have bought Mitsubishi and Daikin both of which are completely silent, but I am wondering if there is anything out there as quiet as those two at a more affordable price?

Have you considered a ducted system? These can be really quiet.

Never seen them here (never looked) but I knew some people who had them in Europe, though there they were reversible and also used for heating in the winter.

I am looking to save some money over Mitsubishi, I may be wrong, but I thought ducted was more expensive than split?

Kind of hard to run duct through cement beams as used for construction here. And they need openings for air return, doors that do not fit to threshold if not dedicated ducts, so not suited to most homes here where air conditioning is limited to occupied areas.

There is really not much difference in price - would advise paying for those better units - well worthwhile IMHO.

Edit: that said have two 9k Panasonic units and they are very quiet but do not believe price difference is much.

Standard 9k Panasonic units can be purchased for as little as 11,999 baht/inc fitting..............good price IMHO thumbsup.gif

5months ago we bought a mitsubishi 18k.btu econair, saving around 500bht.a month on previous bills and it is very quiet.recomend.

The top-end Daikin Urusara is the closest split system you'll get to silent (19dB at the lowest fan setting) - but they're not cheap....

I had Panasonic recommended to me by an A/C man because they are very reliable. After 1 year it failed. Since then, in the last 5 months it has failed 2 more times. It has a fuse that seems to have a weak holder. It is located on a circuit board that is not really easy to get to. If you want to disassemble every few months, Panasonic is your choice but not mine.

Mitsubishi is fine unless you have an inverter unit and live in an area with frequent voltage surges. Cost me 18,000 baht and a 2 month wait for parts.
