george Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 Two websites of Thaksin inaccessible The two websites former primer minister Thaksin Shinawatra used to boast as channels to reach out to his supporters have become inaccessible. The two websites are www.thairakthai.or.th and www.thaksin.com which Thaksin used to receive mails and comments from his supporters as well as promoting himself and party's policies. -- The Nation 2006-10-02
ovenman Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 This doesn't seem to be a simple case of banned in Thailand. I'm in Malaysia right now and cannot access either of the listed sites. It would appear that they may have been altogether closed down.
teepruksa Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 I would imagine that is a wise move on the part of the Thai authorities. This should clip his wings further, & limit his communication a little. Good move, I'd say.
Plus Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 Students demonstrating against the junta were not arrested even if their activities are illegal, and the taxi driver who slammed his car into a tank wasn't arrested. But I wouldn't provoke the junta just yet. Thaksin reportedely ordered a public opinion poll on his and TRT's popularity. I don't think they would allow that.
