My opinion to non Thai.... stop meddling with Thai politics. It doesn't worth it. There are almost none one trust worthty politician here ... or make it in the whole world.

Perhaps the CDR <snip> are trying to change all that ?

Checks and Balances, the Democratic rule of Law. The end of cronyism and corruption.

A system that cannot be abused by some chancer politician.

However, I am at a age where I still remember how democrats left a financially broke country in 1997 to Thaksin

Don't make a full out of yourself. Democrats TOOK financially broke country in 1997 from Chavalit, Thaksin served as Deputy Premier then.

Right and wrong. Bubble and foundation was created before and after 1997 no action as well, it is debatable. There is no need for strong words, plus.

It is good now everything is clear and follow the people desire. Just celebrate OK?

Just a cautionary warning here folks... please take time out to read the pinned topic in the News Forum.

Political comments at the moment are a no-no.

And of course, comments about the Thai Royal Family will be immediately deleted.

Thanks for your understanding.

Rats, sinking ship.................. :o

Seems the crisis is practically over, Thaksin gone, crisis over.

Now the 6 rules of Thai politics can start again.

1.) Find a saviour, preferably rich, don't worry where and how he made his dosh.

2.) Wild enthusiasm backed up by wild promises of ending drugs, corruption and poverty.

3.) Slow disillusionment as the same old faces return to the trough for a feed.

4.) Total despair as chaos, nepotism and corruption take root.

5.) Collapse or removal of corrupt leaders and a few months of looking for scapegoats.

6.) Punishment of subordinates and promotion of the same guilty, corrupt leaders.

How long before Barnharn, Yubumrung, Thiengthong, Samak and co rise from the ashes of the current political graveyard??

Like Hyenas and Vultures they will appear to pick over Thaksins political bones.

Exactly.

The five-year ban is retroactively applied which is against all legal standards.

I presume they'll dissolve the Democrats as well to cause total political mayhem which will enable them to be in it for the long term.

Well, with the air of superiority and supreme confidence you stated something that is completely opposite to what actually happened. I used strong words just for that little bubble.

Nothing is clear now, and people's desires don't count for much. Shocking as it may be, people have failed and got what they deserved - the coup. Now they are happy that someone has finally stepped in and started sorting the mess they got themselves in - 86% approval ratings. They are just tired of playing on their own.

Why do you think they didn't mind Thaksin's autocracy - for the same reason, they need a boss, a master, someone to take care of them and make decisions on their behalf. Thai democracy is barely out of infancy stage.

Democracy is a process; it takes time and does not always go forward but ebbs and flows. Lets not forget most western democracies have been unstable and had democratic crisis in their recent past.

Democracy needs both the structure and the spirit to work.

The spirit comes from individuals. A strong democracy rests on individual values probably more so than the structures.

There is a lot of cynicism in some of the posts along the lines of same same.

Granted Thai politics is a real cess pit, however I feel there is a bit of a democratic shift in values going on in the younger, educated, Internet savvy and other segments.

Frankly it is too murky to predict, you would be brave to make predictions without being thoroughly embedded or having good sources of info (such as this forum hahahaha)

The devaluation was timed to perfection for anyone aware of the situation.

Lot,s of bahts where made by those lucky enough to anticipate it before it happened.

Needless to say i wasn,t one of them.

Just heard from the local Moo Ban ( Was staunch TRT until recent events took place ) the now retired village rep and shepherd of the flock, that the beloved side kick of Toxin has now resigned from the party.

Sudarat Keyuraphan, yes the one with the spectacles with one way vision for supporting her beloved ex leader.

Yesssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss, this was a scalp i was waiting for to get her wings clipped.

My, My, how they are hastily abandoning the sinking Titanic now the captains gone and left them

for a safer passage and pastures new.

marshbags :o:D:D

P.S.

Should anyone not be familiar with her positions under Toxin Apart from being deputy of the party leader

Mrs.Sudarat Keyuraphan

Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives

There must be plenty to look into and unearth along with all the other allegations already in the pipe line from this department.

If i am allowed to make the last observation under the present forum rules.

TRT plans to hold a meeting with 14 million party members

The Thai Rak Thai Party (TRT) will organize a meeting with 14 million party members, to determine the political direction, if the order to dissolve the TRT has actually been carried out.

Mr. Suthin Klangsaeng, the TRT Deputy Spokesman, asserted that he is not taken aback if such order has been executed because it can only be done through legal means. He said if the TRT has been dissolved, then the party will seek a way to hold a major conference where it will invite 14 million party members to take part in this event.

In regard to the continual resignations of TRT members, Mr. Suthin said the situation is not unusual because once the party is developed to a certain level, the members will later move on normally. He said similar incidents have occurred in other political parties. However, he said the number of people who have already left the TRT is considered less, as the party still has about 300 former MPs. He also believes that once the TRT’s crisis is over, the party will become a strong political institution again.

Meanwhile, Mr. Nisit Sinthuprai, a former TRT MP from Roi Et Province, said all 14 million TRT members will be there for the party even though some members have already walked out from the party. Mr. Nisit has asked the Asset Inspection Panel appointed by the Council for National Security to work impartially.

This way.themoderatevoice-arrow_down.jpg

:D

I still can't believe they're still trying to have people swallow that lie that TRT has/had 14 million card carrying members. Voters maybe, not members. 25% of the population? :o Where will they all sit? :D The plains of Mongolia?

That was one of the most absurd things to ever come out from TRT. Maybe another cracked pot idea from dear leader in his war room over in London with his minions still saying yes to anything...

The silence in this Moo Ban is deafening and the inevitable has already been accepted by practically everyone, T.C.

Especially the mouth pieces / local "you do this and support that " marshalls

By the way have the loudspeakers been banned as ours have been silent for days now.

The local area they all used to congregate in is also mysteriously unoccupied now as well ???????

So strange regarding the bustling business like attitude of before the flight / and strings of the puppet master where cut off along with his local donations. ahemmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Another bit of not so surprising news from the Nation breaking news.

Surakiart drops out of race for U.N. top post

Interim prime minister, Surayud Chulanont, said Thursday that Thailand's U.N. head candidate has withdrawn from the race to succeed U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan.

Former deputy prime minister Surakiart Sathirathai bowed out of the race after South Korean Foreign Minister Ban Ki-Moon topped a Security Council straw poll, putting him on course to become the next UN secretary general.

Prior to the coup, Surakiart was in third position in an informal, secret-ballot poll after Ban and India's Shashi Tharoor, currently UN Under Secretary General for Public Affairs.

Now we can look forward to some interesting information on this official as well i reckon.

He should have withdrawn some time ago to save Thailand from the negative observations on his credentials relating to the top U.N post as he obviously wasn,t up to it.

Funny you asked: I tried some time ago to find out what the title of his submitted scription was... no way jose :o

"An Analysis of the Relationship Between the Criminal Justice Educational Process and the Attitude of the Student's Torward the Rule of Law." Thaksin Shinawatra,

Sam Houston College

Sounds like an incredibly boring and pointless topic. He is proud of the fact that he and his wife both worked illegally at fast food restaurants while in the state on student visas. Remember when he sent his daughter to work in McDonalds in Siam Square for about 3 days.

Someone at Sam Houston U may soon submit a scription titled "An Analysis of the Relationship Between the Criminally Inclined Political Process and the Attitude of the TRT Politicians Torward the Rule of Law." :D

...and yet ANOTHER bigwig of the Totally Reprehensible Thais (TRT) Party quits in disgrace... not only the TRT Party, but to quit politics altogether:

Wan Nor 'will quit politics'

Wan Muhamad Nor Matha, leader of the Wadah faction in the Thai Rak Thai party, has decided to bow out of politics permanently, according to a party source. The source said Mr Wan Nor told the faction's members of his decision over the weekend, though he has yet to tender his resignation.

Also, it was reported that about 10 former southern MPs from the Wadah and Darussalam factions will today tender their resignations from the party.

Chaturon shrugs off Wadah resignations

Acting Thai Rak Thai leader Chaturon Chaisaeng yesterday shrugged off the resignations of seven members of the Wadah faction, saying the former ruling party was ready to become small and would not be discouraged by the exodus of members. Their departure was predictable and he expected many others to resign before a new general election date is set. ''Thai Rak Thai will experience more storms of this kind. But we aren't afraid to become a small party. The problems we experienced in the past were due to the size of the party, which was too big,'' he said. Ahhh yes, THAT'S what the problem was... it was toooo big. It had NOTHING to do with Thaksin's many, many crimes... it was just simply "too big" a party. :D:o To boost confidence among the remaining members, the party's acting executives under his leadership would need to be clear on policies and directions and, at the same time, solve the existing problems at the roots, he said. Seems like they have solved the "root problem;" Thaksin quit. Since Thai Rak Thai founder Thaksin Shinawatra quit as party leader on Oct 2, many key members have followed suit, including Suriya Jungrungreangkit, Somsak Thepsuthin, Phinij Jarusombat and Somkid Jatusripitak. As of yesterday, 101 members had tendered their resignation letters. Wadah member Areepen Uttarasin said he resigned because Thai Rak Thai had never valued the voices of his group. News Flash, Khun Areepen. Thaksin didn't give a crap about ANYONE'S voice except his own. Sutham Saengprathum, a Thai Rak Thai executive, believed members were leaving en masse because of uncertainties surrounding the party, especially the prospect of it being dissolved. These people joined the party because they saw good opportunities then, he said, and they left when those good prospects were gone. Extra points awarded to Khun Sutham for stating the obvious.
