Popular Post 4evermaat
Applied again for a multiple entry, non-O visa for visiting Thai family again in Penang Thai Consulate with no issues. It was the same paperwork as last time, with updated statements. The visa fees have also increased to 750 RM. http://www.thaiembas...3408-798023.pdf Lots of people seem to come early on Monday. I got there just before 10:00 and there was already probably 30-40 people in front. Before you sign in, you talk to the guard who will ask what visa you are applying for. Then you skip to the front and request a number. The consular asked what visa country my passport was before handing me a slip. You go back and sign in and wait in line. About 40 min later, I was served. There was some malay staff helping to take applications. It seems that you can staple the two passport photos side-by-side onto the application form. They double-checked the reason for the application and he pulled out the thai birth certificate copy for my son and then said ok. 750 RM paid. 45 minute wait and i was maybe the 4th to last person in line. Came back the next day afternoon, show them the slip, and then handed me the passport with the fresh visa in there; 30 seconds. I figured out how to get to the consulate by RapidPenang Bus the easy way. 1) [easiest] Take the 101 on Chula St or Komtar to Jalan Kelawei. Jalan Cantonment should be the next stop after sleeping budda (Lorong Bangkok). Walk down Jalan Cantonment about 20 min. If you went to Gurney Paragon, you went a little too far. You can still get off and walk back a little, take a side street down to Jalan Burma. The 101 runs every 15-20 minutes. 2) [slightly less easy] Take the 103 from Komtar to Jalan Burma. (You will pass Gurney Paragon/Plaza and the bus circles around to Jalan Burma) Get off at the stop before Jalan Cantonment. You'll see baskin robbins, Domino's Pizza, and Maybank on the right. Walk down Cantonment about 20 min. 3) [intermediate] Catch the 304 on Jalan Burma. You should do it where you see baskin robbins, Domino's Pizza, and Maybank on the right. It goes down Jalan Cantonment, tell the driver you want St Christopher's primary school. When you merge onto Jalan Macalister, you need to get off immediately if the driver didn't stop before that. 4) [Advanced] the #10 and #306 also go down Jalan Macalister, You'd get off at St Christophers primary school (Jalan Cantonment). I'm not 100% sure where to catch them. You have to make sure you are on the correct leg. You want to be on the bus 101 or 103 by 07:45. You have enough time to walk and get to consulate before they open @ 09:00. I had the RapidPenang weekly pass (30 RM) with unlimited rides; get one as soon as you arrive in Penang(Komtar, Weld Quay/Jetty) . A lot of tourist don't seem to know about it. Info here: http://www.rapidpg.c...t/how-it-works/ For those coming from the airport or need to get to the airport, there is a new bus AT, that goes from the airport to the ferry (Jetty or Jeti). It passes through Komtar goes down Chulia street, about 35 min end-to-end. Came back in Thailand at Pedang Besar train border. No questions asked, just a fresh 90 day stamp. Reminded me of 2 years ago at any border. You have a visa and they just stamp your passport; very friendly and courteous.
Siriam
They double-checked the reason for the application and he pulled out the thai birth certificate copy for my son and then said ok. So you've obtained your Multi-entry visa based on your Thai Son, not wife, am I understand it correctly?

4evermaat
They double-checked the reason for the application and he pulled out the thai birth certificate copy for my son and then said ok. So you've obtained your Multi-entry visa based on your Thai Son, not wife, am I understand it correctly? that is correct. thai birth certificate, and housebook registration (tambien baan) no money show for multiple entry ? I think he showed some money in the bank. From OP "It was the same paperwork as last time, with updated statements" yes. a non-thai bank showing >100k THB equivalent. A single entry non-o would have required some funds also. The only place i know with zero financial proof is Savannakhet, Laos. But you have to be married to thai national (can go alone) or bring the wife and child with you in some cases (de facto marriage). According to a Polish national who applied the same day, no funds proof was required for tourist visa (single entry), no hotel booking, no onwards ticket, just the application and the money. That was her first or 2nd entry into thailand. She could have attempted to do another visa exempt and saved her visa for the next Thai entry later this month, but didn't want to take a chance at Sadao. A Philippine national also was applying for thai tourist visa, but I forgot to ask if they were requesting proof of funds, plane ticket, etc. We talked more about the requirements of a national to get out of the Philippines, which was revealing (but for another thread). Seems to have relaxed a bit from last time where more people were asked for a bank statement to prove 20k baht for tourist visa. somewhereinengland
I've just got a single non 'o' in Vientiane and I was very lucky to get it as I had no tabiban for my son as he was born in the uk and I'm going through the process to put him on a friends tabiban which believe you is a pain in the arse even though I have full custody of him and his mum is in the uk, I was just lucky that I took my girlfriend with me who explained the situation and she had to guarantee my application, but no financial proof was required in Vientiane for a single entry non o for being a father of a Thai
bkkflyer
Sorry for bumping up this old thread; I am wondering about my chances of getting a Multiple Non-O at the Thai consulate in Penang next month. - Have Scandinavian passport and have several visits with "Visa exempt" during the last few years. No Visas for several years. - Got warning some time ago when entering DMK airport with my partner and our children, and asked to get a proper visa. - Have entered BKK several times since on "Visa exempt", without too much hassle. - Can transfer funds into Thai bank account if needed. - I am the father of our 2 children, and was planning to bring birth certificates (where my name is on) and "Tambien baan" and passports. - Not married (but planning on bringing copy of partners ID-card) Appreciate any insight. sunnyjim5
You might get one if you take your g/f and the children with you when you apply. Otherwise you will only get a single entry (90 days) visa.

You can get a multiple entry non-o visa if you can show 100k baht in the bank. Your previous entry history will have no effect on getting the visa. Child's birth certificate plus a copy of it and a copy of their house book registry. Scratch your birth certificate and rental agreement from the list they are not needed. Copy of your passport photo page. Two 3.5 X 4.5 photos for this application form. Penang.pdf

I suggest you update your bank book just before you start the trip to Penang.

If you mean a multiple entry non-o visa based upon being the parent of a Thai Penang is the only nearby location that will issue them. You will need 400k baht in a bank or proof income to get it. KL stopped issuing multiple entry visas several years ago.
