Passenger transport operators raise money for Chai Pattana Foundation

BANGKOK, 6 November 2015 (NNT) - The Cooperative Promotion Department (CPD), various cooperatives in Bangkok, passenger transport operators have launched a fundraising campaign for the Chai Pattana Foundation.


According to CPD Director General Winaroj Supsongsuk, the fundraising campaign is also being organized in tribute to His Majesty the King on the auspicious occasion of his 88th birthday anniversary.

All proceeds will go to the Chai Pattana Foundation. More than 3,000 participating vehicles will have a windshield sticker of the campaign logo.

Drivers will also place a donation box inside their vehicles for passengers to contribute to the fundraising scheme, which will come to an end on December 4.

Phuket speeders: 70% caught on camera fail to pay fine

PHUKET: -- Not a single Phuket driver of the 70 per cent who failed to pay their speeding tickets has had their licence revoked, confirmed Phuket Land Transport Office (PLTO) chief policy adviser Jaturong Kaewkasi.

Japanese owners of famous ‘onsen’ hot springs soften their stance on tattoo ban to appease foreign visitors

The Japan National Tourism Organisation says it is encouraging hotels and onsen operators to provide options to foreign guests with tattoos.

Phuket disaster officials steam ahead with B30mn fire boat project

The move to acquire a fire boat in Phuket follows a devastating ferry fire in April that saw a 12-year-old Israeli tourist girl being the sole fatality.

PHUKET: -- A 38-foot fire-fighting boat costing at least B30 million will be based at Phuket’s Rassada Pier by the end of 2016, said disaster officials yesterday (Nov 5).

Surat Thani prepares for Father’s Day 2015

SURAT THANI, 6 November 2015, (NNT) – Surat Thani province is gearing up for the grand celebration of HM the King’s birthday next month.


The southern province of Surat Thani has recently held a meeting with government officials and the private sector on preparations for the upcoming celebration of His Majesty the King’s 88th birthday anniversary. The celebration will take place on Saturday, December 5th, 2015, which is also National Father’s Day.

According to Surat Thani Governor Wongsiri Promchana, who chaired the meeting, many activities will be held to mark the auspicious occasion, such as an almsgiving ceremony and the release of marine animals into the wild, both of which will take place in the early morning.

At 9 am, the general public will be granted an opportunity to sign a well-wishing book for HM the King at Surat Thani School.

Later in the evening, there will be a candle-lighting ceremony in front of the provincial city hall.

Another activity celebrating the King’s birthday is the “BIKE FOR DAD” event. Surat Thani will join the rest of the nation to organize this activity on Friday, December 11th. The 29-kilometer journey will begin at 3 pm, with the start and finish in front of city hall.

Two men investigated for multiple burglaries after 500 items seized from Phuket home

More than 500 items were displayed by police after they were seized from a house in Moo Baan Phuket City Home.

PHUKET: -- Police are investigating two men who are suspected of being behind a spate of burglaries on a Phuket City housing estate after finding more than 500 items in their home, all of which are believed to have been stolen.
