Major retailer stashes food, gold for 'doomsday'
The chairman of the American online retailer Overstock, Jonathan Johnson – who’s also running for governor of Utah – said his company is so sure a financial collapse is on the way, the firm’s leading executives have accumulated and set aside about $10 million in gold and silver coins to cover the costs of payroll and keep both employees and operations in the black.

Utah is center for Mormons. They believe in homes having 2 years of food and staples stocked in their homes. Sounds to me like he is using this mentality to get the mormon vote in his state. Mormons are doomsday people so I would assume he is playing on that.

"$10 million in gold and silver coins to cover the costs of payroll and keep both employees and operations in the black" yea right - I would be concerned about that during a complete economic crash. Ha. Can't eat gold or silver

This year...Amazon is up 111% and Overstock is down 29%. I know wages are pathetic in Utah, but the costs to insure all those wives and kids must be astronomical.
