Cambodia repatriates 168 Chinese suspects in telecom scams to China

Featured Replies

PHNOM PENH, Nov. 10 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia deported 168 Chinese suspects involved in telecom swindle cases to China on Tuesday, the National Police's news website said.

"Chinese police had sent two planes to transport those Chinese from Cambodia after Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sar Kheng signed a letter deporting them from Cambodia to their country," Lt. Gen. Khun Sambo, deputy chief of the Cambodia's General Department of Immigration, was quoted by the website as saying.

He said Cambodian and Chinese police have been continuing cooperation to hunt down the masterminds in transnational telecom frauds.

The deported Chinese, including 19 females, were arrested in three villas in southwestern Preah Sihanouk province on Oct. 31, and a number of computers, telephones and bank cards, which had been used to commit the alleged crimes, had been seized.

Lt. Gen. Khun Sambo said the group will face justice in China.

In telecom scam, fraudsters often use overseas servers to make scam calls to their victims in China, claiming to be court or police officials and warning that the victims' bank accounts had been breached so that they have to transfer the money to a separate safe account.

ThaiVisa, it's also in French

Oh God. They are almost 200. Phone scammers maybe the most dangerous scams in this world. Even everyday I can find reports filed at sites like http://whycall.me about phone scams. I really hope that every law enforcement in every country will be able to catch them down like this often.
