Hello, 5th december, King`s National Day, Transportation Available 5th-6th December?

Featured Replies

Hello,

I`m from Romania and I`m planning to visit Thailand for 15 days with my girlfriend

I`m having an issue, because I`m planning to travel on 5th of this December (2015) by ferryboats (from Ko Phi Phi to Phuket or Ko Phi Phi to Krabi) and with local bus transportations (maybe taxi as well) in Bangkok and Krabi or Phuket (depending on the airplain). And I`ve heard that I might have problems due to National Day?

My questions are:

1. Will the ferryboats from Ko Phi Phi to Phuket or Ko Phi Phi to Krabi will work on the 5th of December (due to National Day of King)? (for ferryboats I have http://www.gokohphiphi.com/schedule.html)

2. I found an local governamental bus transportation from Phuket Town to Phuket Airport (I have > http://www.airportbusphuket.com/timetable.php). WIll this service be available on the 5th of December (due to National Day of King) ? Because I`m planning to take the Phuket airplain to Bangkok

3. Are any local bus (governamental or non governamental buses) from Phuket / Krabi / Bangkok that will work on the 5th of December and 6th of December 2015 (due to national day)?

4. Will taxi work on 5th - 6th of december 2015 in Krabi / Phuket and Bangkok?

Thank you in advance

Looking forward for your replies

Yes to all.

Yes to all your questions BUT they will all be running with overflowing loads, queues will be long, and the general experience (for a tourist couple) may not be all that pleasant.

You may want to plan to stay put in one place from the 4th to the 8th. Also, please note that the 5th is the holiday but the 7th is the "day off" for schools and government offices, since the 5th is a Saturday this year.

Enjoy your stay in Thailand!

Likely the 4th will be off as well, so that makes a 4 day weekend.

You really want to buy any bus/train/plane tickets from 2-6 weeks prior (like NOW) to minimize hassle. Hotels should be booked already or now as popular guesthouses are likely to be full. Once you are in the local vicinity, transportation is ok. But the 5th is not the best day to travel. Perhaps a worse day might be one of the Songkran water festival days, trying to get into/out of a beach area can take 2-4 hours. And honestly, avoid travel on those days specifically. Can you try to travel on the 3rd December or earlier? Or after the 7th?

I hope this helps.

I haven't seen an indication that the 4th will be another day off.

It will just be a very busy Friday afternoon/night.

But anyway its a long weekend. Quite busy and probably alcohol restrictions on the 5th.

Hello,

I have the plain ticket in 6th from BKK and plain ticket from Phuket to BKK on 5th, I can`t change my itinerary :(

But I do not mind if it will be crowded as long as I arrive to the airports in time

:)
