BANGKOK: -- Department of Special Investigation’s deputy director-general for special cases Pol Lt-Col Wannapong Kotcharak has been transferred to become deputy director of Forensic Science Institute of the Justice Ministry.

Justice permanent secretary-general Mrs Suwanna Suwanchutha said Wednesday that the police officer’s transfer had nothing to do with his investigation into political protests five years ago.

However, she said that the officer was suitable for the new job and she had trust in management capability as the new requires him to coordinate closely with the National Police Office.

As for the two vacant seats for the DSI deputy director-general’s posts, Mrs Suwanna said that the two posts are now open for applications.

Meanwhile, five police officers of Paholyothin police station were on Tuesday transferred to inactive posts at the National Police Office for their failure to crack down on illegal gambling dens in the district.

The sudden transfer followed a raid of an illegal gambling den at a building in Chatuchak district early Wednesday morning in which several gamblers were arrested.

The five transferred officers are Pol Col Panudet Sukwong, the superintendent of Paholyothin police; Pol Lt-Col Panya Kulthai, deputy superintendent; Pol Lt-Col Sakthavee Sribanthao,, the suppression inspector; Pol Maj Chalakorn Parndaeng, the investigative inspector; and Pol Maj Kobsak Powaree, the suppression inspector.

They get transferred, or they run away or they have an accident.

Top members of a criminal organisation know too much and usually won't be put behind bars.

The few that do go to jail keep quiet because they are concerned for their families health.

Just watch a few episodes of the "Sopranos" to see how the police and army are organized.

This "inactive post" place, must be massivesmile.png ,the number of

Police and other officials that get moved there,I think the

real punishment when they get moved,is that their access

to "tea money" is curtailed,
