What are my options to stay longer in Thailand ?

Featured Replies

Hello everybody !

I have romanian nationality and stayed in Thailand for 8 months this year( now i am in Romania) , and i used until now a single entry tourist visa taken from my country and a double entry tourist visa taken from Vientiane. I applied for a single entry tourist visa at thai embassy in my country but they don't allow me because i'm not figure like a tourist.

The question is ,how can i stay in Thailand for at least 6 months ?

I'm thinking to some options , but not sure if it works .

i'm thinking to 1. get the visa on airport for 15 days and after to apply for multi entry tourist visa in Laos or another nearby country

or

2. get the visa on airport for 15 days and after to apply for Education Visa

Thanks in advance !

You will only be able to get a single entry tourist visa in Laos now. Two entry tourist visa are no longer being done anywhere now since the 13th of this month when the new multiple entry tourist visa (METV) went into effect. You can only apply for the METV in your home country.

You should not have a problem getting a single entry tourist visa.

To apply for a visa on arrival requires a ticket out of the country within 15 days of arrival.

You can apply for a METV (Multiply entry tourist visa) visa by having sufficient money in your account and as well show that you have a job in Romania. The amount should be around 200,000 Baht in your local currency.

Their is a possibility you had already three entries into Thailand and that might be the reason why the Thai Embassy refused you another visa.

Not sure what airline you use from Romania, but since you would be boarding the flight without a visa, anticipating getting a VOA when you reach Thailand, you would probably need a flight booked out of Thailand before being allowed to board the airplane ... as well as needing the outward flight booking, an address in Thailand where you will be staying and at least Baht 10.000 or equivalent when you apply for the VOA at Suvarnabhumi.

Get a one year visa to study Muay Thai. Theres only one school left who can do it. Think its Toddys.

You not mentioned how old are you. If above 50 you can get retirement visa. If u want to get education visa get the Non immigrant Ed visa from the embassy in your country.

Thanks for your advices !

mrfaroukh, i'm under 50 :)

So , this is the plan : go in Thailand , take a VOA for 15 days ( i already booked the cheap flight to go out from Thailand ) , after that , apply in Laos for single entry tourist visa , and after apply for Education Visa( if i stay in BKK , i will choose Toddys, to study muay thai , if not i will stay in Chiang Mai , can you recommend me some schools that i don't have to go to much ? )

Sound's good ?

Thanks for your advices !

If you like the idea of Muay Thai, I recall there is (was?) a school in Chang Mai that teaches hand-to-hand combat / personal self defense - purportedly taught by military and/or police personnel. It was a year or more ago when I read of this, but it was implied their choice of staff minimized issues with the Edu Visa / hassle at Immigration.

Thanks for your advices !

Your plan would work.

Not sure there is a gym in Chiang Mai that is registered with the MOE.

Website for the hand to hand combat school mentioned in the previous post is here. http://en.hand2handcombat.com/
