HbA1c testing

Featured Replies

To date I've gone to a local private hospital for blood tests including HbA1c. However, the tests are expensive, there's the doctor's fee, and there's a lot of waiting around. I can interpret my own test results, and unless anything changes I don't need a doctor's input, so I was wondering if it was possible to get HbA1c testing outside a hospital setting. Companies like Pathlab (http://www.pathlab.co.th/index.php?page=Blood_Tests) offer a wide range of blood tests, but as far as I can find, don't offer HbA1c.

Wife's most recent 60 minute HbA1c test at Vejthani was 500 baht for that test alone so more expensive than most other standard tests received at the same time but no more wait than any other test.

I don't know your location,

In Chiang Mai LannaLab is doing the test for THB 250

As a comparison Bangkok Christian Hospital charges 450 baht, but then you have the doctor's + nurses fee on top.

I'd be very surprised if they don't do that test. It's pretty standard these days - my little guy with his one-man lab in Pattaya has been doing it for years.

Suggest you specifically ask, rather than looking at their handouts or website.

Did ask. Told no.

Incidentally, I'm near Bangkok.
