Wife, daughter murdered in Kampong Thom

A man was arrested on Monday in Kampong Thom province’s Sandan district after allegedly beating his wife and 2-year-old daughter to death in a drunken rage, police said.

Deputy district police chief Noun Kumnith said that suspect Kun Ky, 48, was slated to be sent to provincial court to be charged with murder today.

According to Kumnith, Ky came home drunk on Sunday night and demanded his wife, Thong Mech, 35, cook for him.

When she refused and confronted him about his drinking, he allegedly flew into a rage, with his daughter, Thy Menea, accidentally caught in the melee.

I have heard 1st person accounts of women who fearing for their safety and the safety of their children would leave out the backdoor and hunker down in the forest...when the husband would come home in a drunken rage...apparently a regular occurrence...sad way to live...RIP little one and mom...
