I am aware that I can only stay 90 days and than have to leave Thailand and can come back into the country for another 90 days.

I am also aware that this Visa is only valid for 1 year but it gives no expiry date nor does it says it expires after 12 month.

1. But I have been told by friends that I have to apply for a re-entry permit each time before I leave Thailand - Is that correct ?

2. Nobody could tell me how many times i can leave and come back into Thailand with this Visa.?

3. Nobody could tell me if a land border crossing also count or do I have to fly out and in again.?

Please help me on this one

0) a visa without and expiry date??? It does not show "ENTER BEFORE" date?

1) No. If you have an M visa you can

2) exit/enter as often as you desire

3) land or air does not matter.

Most prefer land border for cost.

if you exit and re-enter shortly before the "ENTER BEFORE" then you get another 90 days and so have almost 15 months with this visa.

  • The visa is valid for 1 year from the date of issue. An 'enter before' date will be printed on the visa. That is the expiry date. You can enter anytime on or before this date.
  • No. You don't need re-entry permits as you have a valid multiple entry visa.
  • Unlimited entries. But each entry is limited to 90 days.
  • You can exit/enter and any border land or airport.
  • If you are married of have a child you can extend any of your 90 day entries by 60 days at immigration for 1,900 baht.

1. Your friend's advice is not to be trusted. You do not need a re-entry permit when you leave the country.

2. If it is your wish, you can leave every day and on return to Thailand will receive an entry stamp allowing you to stay up to 90 days.

3. As long as there are no current restrictions on the crossing for out/in, you can use any land crossing, some more friendly than others.

If you were to leave and re enter the country the day before your non-O expires, you will still get a 90 day stamp on entry.

Edit: As elviajero has stated earlier

There should be an issue date when the embassy or consulate issued the visa to you and a enter-before date, which is when the visa will expire.

I am on non O 1 year multi entries (based on child). I just got a new one yesterday with a issue date 18 Nov 2015 and a enter date before 17 Nov 2016. My previous one was issue date 20 Nov 2014 and enter before 19 Nov 2015. I crossing the border (by air) at least one time per week (sometime more). No issue at all with that and no need for re entry permit as it is multi entry visa. My last entry with the previous one was 11 Nov and they stamp thr entry date with admit until date of 8 Feb 2016 ( 90 days). I exit again on 16 Nov and at the airport the immigration officer gently reminded me that i should come back before 19 Nov as my visa expired that day. I thanks for that but told him that i will come back on 20 Nov with a new visa. I came yesterday with new visa. Entry date 20 Nov. Admit until 17 Feb 2016

If that can help the original poster.

I have a multi entry type O (retirement) visa valid until Nov 19 2016. I am outside Thailand at the moment but had planned to return just before the visa expired. I had thought I would be given another 90 days in the country during which time I would apply for a retirement extension as I plan to stay. However I just heard that if my return is close to the visa expiration date I may not be granted 90 days and this is a new policy.

What is the correct procedure in this case?

There are no changes. You will get a new 90 day entry as long as you do it on or before the enter before date on your visa.
