Kampot Sea Festival to draw 300,000 as Domestic Tourism Surges

More than 300,000 tourists, both domestic and international, are expected to visit next month’s fourth annual Sea Festival centered in Kampot, Minister of Tourism Thong Khon said yesterday.

The number reflects a surge in domestic tourism due to rising incomes in Cambodia, which has primarily benefitted the country’s coastal area, industry executives say.

Mr. Khon told Khmer Times yesterday that the three-day festival that begins on December 11 will also see a boost due to the improvements in infrastructure between Kampot and Phnom Penh.
