Has anyone got any stories to share on driving to Phuket from Bangkok.

I will have to do this next week, I am looking forward to it even though I have heard some bad stories. people being stopped and robbed or worse still. also something about a tree left in the road so he had to stop. :o

Quite safe and the roads are fine - thousands of people and cars do it every day.
