American Sean Nicholls Tobin Arrested in Pattaya on US Warrant

PATTAYA:-- Police arrested American fugitive Sean Nicholls Tobin, 30, wanted in the United States for drug related crimes in Pattaya.
The Pattaya Mail reported Mr. Tobin tried to run when he saw immigration officers however he quickly surrenders himself when he saw that he was surrounded.
Under questioning, Mr. Tobin said he did not have his passport handy, but entered the country on Oct. 5, and obtained another 14-day visa stamp at the border Oct. 22.

Fun days ahead Sean. So long.

What drugs? They are all different.

Well clearly he came to Pattaya to spend some of his hard earned drug money on a better kind of drug. Those women can be highly addictive if you can afford them.

"never venturing outside during daylight hours" ........yes very suspicious behavior! Probably modus operandi for the majority of single males in Pattaya.

I'm not so sure that the information received from the US Embassy about this warrant was accurate as it may have been outdated.

Tobin was arrested during a sweep in Pattaya. He was reported to have been acting suspiciously because he only went out at night. He didn't produce a passport, and immigration claims he entered Thailand illegally. That's possible.

He was caught up in a home invasion robbery probably because he was involved in marijuana dealing back in 2008. Sounds like his partner's home was targeted due to the drug dealing, and he was there at the time. He and his partner were arrested for dealing, using a vehicle to store drugs and money laundering in 2010. However, the charges were dismissed in 2011. So, I think what we won't hear is that the deportation on a warrant won't be processed, although Tobin might be sent back to the US for illegal entry.

His partner, who is a state drug agent, was recently charged with dealing and money-laundering again. However, Tobin was not charged. Maybe there's a money laundering charge against him now, but probably not. Just a screw up by the embassy or immigration police. http://www.newsobserver.com/news/local/crime/article10208873.html

Something smells like a rat. An American gets 30 days visa expemt at any crossing not 14.

A nonsense post with an oversize image has been removed as well as a grammar police reply.

That is sad , what he did in the US , stays in the US , especially the US ridiculous war against drugs .

If he does nothing wrong in Thailand , then he shouldn't be arrested.

Sad????......What happens anywhere else stays there. Kinda like a Las Vegas thing?

Jeez, your not Wanted are you?.....

if it's a marijuana thing i agree as getting arrested for anything to do with this harmless drug is unfathonable - live and let live <deleted>

So did Brits, but they changed it back to 15/14 days for all land border crossings, but I can't remember exactly when this was changed, It could have been just before he travelled accross and back. Oh then they stopped it completely, thats if it was a land border crossing.....

The Thai government has made it a priority now to deport or arrest anyone from any country it has a mutual relationship with. Immigration police are picking up foreigners daily for deportation purposes to go to trial, back to jail or who got here when they were told they were not allowed to leave there country for parol reasons or whatever. Normally it is not put out by the newsmedia. It's really no big deal. Just don't come to Thailand any more if you are wanted in your country.

They have been going after Dead Beat Dads for a very long time as well.........

Nice people attracted to pattaya.

I wonder how many more thousand are living there.

But you can buy your way OUT and then back IN again if 'wanted in Thailand'.

Actually that is less and less true that you can buy your way to get in and out of Thailand. Maybe after democracy is restored.

Rubbish. This happened during 'democracy' AND dictatorship. I have a mail from Somyot to prove it. This culture of endemic corruption doesn't/will never change here. As the Thais themselves say 'It's in the blood'. Get a clue.

So angry. Well if it so easy maybe you want to recommend it to your friends. I don't.

...really hard to follow...but 'neighbors'.....I doubt it....someone wanted him arrested....

I have problems with this particular U.S. extraterritoial claim of law. However, as a U.S. citizen I have to deal with the U.S. claiming to enforce its national law internationally. This applies to many areas of activity...not all bad...income tax, pedophiles, etc. As I say I do have issues at the U.S. government over reach. Reminds me of the outlook of some others unilaterally claiming territory....the Ukraine and South China Sea come to mind.

Sorry, but the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency, in its wisdom, keeps marijuana on Schedule I, meaning its unauthorized use is a felony. Every sensible person knows this is stupid, but a lot of people in the U.S. make a very good living from enforcing the insane drug laws, so it's very difficult to get them to change.

Will some ex-pat living in the Pattaya area...check this guy out of jail and buy him a good meal...he looks like he may expire from lack of nourishment before he is able to be deported...

Pattaya is the ideal town to hide and blend in anonymously for a farang criminal.

Maybe something else is going on? From the front page of the Chiang Rai Times link one finds:

Sean Nicholls Tobin, 30, arrested in Pattaya

Pattaya Expat Sean Tinsley Jailed for Six ...

American Shawn Vincent Kelly Arrested ...
