Panang By Train

I have just heard that if you are going to Panang for a tourist visa you have to fly there you cannot go by train is this true and if so why is this

I read on this forum somewhere that some people have had a bit trouble coming back in thru Pedang Bazar, I came back 2 days after the coup though and had no problems at all.

How can you have a problem if you have genuine visa granted from your exiting countries Thai Embassy,can't see any problem at all going by train.

I know this is not a direct answer to your questions, but with the cheap price of tickets with Thai Air Asian and one hour of travel time, why not just fly?
