Shades of Vietnam?

If you've read the NYT recently, you will know that a large number of DIA analysts have revolted against the rosy and optomistic reports about the war in Syria coming out of CENTCOM's J-2 shop. Pres. Obama, Congress and the IG have gotten involved making it seem as though some MG and LTG heads will roll but maybe they won't. It's a systemic problem. For military officers, a negative report can be a career-ender. Failure is not an option in the military. I am reminded of the severe scoldings that officers got when being pessimistic in their conversations with Gen Harkins at the embassy in Saigon. It was the start of the flim-flam coverup of our poor prospects of winning the war.

As they say, it's deja-vu all over again.

A review of the NYT article on GTO and MAG disagreed with all DFE aspects of the report and recommended a FOS via POTUS, XRD excluded so please GYDIAR OP!

Willard (v.o.)

"The report to the Joint Chiefs of Staff and Lyndon Johnson was restricted. Seems they didn't dig what he had to tell them".

Any first world army would go right through this band of rapists and murderers in seconds. They run from the Shia militia, they run from the Kurds.......Europe was tilted on its side and all the scum ran into Syria. Do you honestly think (say) the Turkish army couldn't blow through this bunch in minutes? Have you watched the US military going through Fallujah?

Too many acronyms. But yeah, wait until we get boots on the ground. Then you'll see Vietnam all over again. Hey, at least there's no jungle this time.

For the American military adventures actually winning the war does not seem to be as important as just spending all that money.

kkerry: can't decipher your acronyms.

Are you expecting a different result, all things considered? It's the exact same 1965 U.S. Government, fast-forwarded by 50-years of the exact same motion picture. The only differences, are_in the faces and names of the good ole boy "grandchildren" network of principal players, if that's the "deja vu" you mean????
