KBank and Intouch Holdings receive Best CEO Awards

BANGKOK, 26 November 2015 (NNT) - The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) and Money & Banking Magazine have jointly presented 21 awards to outstanding companies in Thailand.

Deputy Finance Minister Wisut Srisuphan, who chaired the SET Awards 2015, said the Thai stock market plays an important role in promoting economic growth, in addition to the Board of Investment’s existing incentives for 10 industries.

The award for Thailand’s best CEO of a Company listed on the SET went to Mr. Banthoon Lamsum, Chairman of the Board and CEO at Kasikornbank, and Mr. Somprasong Boonyachai, Executive Committee Chairman of Intouch Holdings Plc.

Eighteen companies registered under the SET and MAI stock markets also received awards during the event for their exceptional performances and investor relations throughout the year.

Always interesting to know who the business doyens of Thailand are.

Bantoon Lamsam, is the grandson of the founder of KBANK. He holds an MBA from Harvard Business School, and a Bachelor’s in Chemical Engineering from Princeton University.

Meanwhile, Somprasong Boonyachai has a Master Degree in Engineering from the Asian Institute of Technology.

One can only wonder what might have been, as back in 2012, Somprasong was tipped to become president of Thai Airways International. However, it seems (quite surprisingly during that time) that his association with Thaksin counted against him, as Chokchai Panyayong was appointed to act in the position until June 2014.
