Hi, sorry if this has been covered before but I am getting conflicting advice about obtaining a non-immigrant type “O” visa.

I am over 50, have 800 000 in a thai bank account so I am hoping to get a Non –immigrant type “O” visa then extend it annually based on retirement.

My question is “where can I get this type “O”visa?” Do I have to return to my home country (UK), or can I obtain one in Thailand.

Thanks for any input. I appreciate it.

  • You don't need to return to the UK.
  • You can get a single entry Non 'O' from a neighbouring country.
  • When you enter Thailand you'll be given a 90 day stay. In the last 30 days of that stay you can apply for the 1 year extension.

It may also be possible to convert your current entry to a non 'O' entry in Bangkok. You need at least 15 days left on your current entry. They will give you a new 90 day stay which again can be converted to a 1 year stay within the last 30 days.
