An ex employee of mine done the same,The answear was easy he got a new work permit with his new job.

Assuming all is good with your job now my advise would be to get a new one,Im very sorry but my house/car was broke into and its gone missing etc.

Dont let them think you where careless and the dog ate it certainly dont own up to ripping it up.

As you are in the system all ready it should just be a replacement.

Just go down to the labour office and have it replaced. Cost??? You ripped it. They don't need to know how or why it ripped. Just go get it replaced. It's a pretty important document and like money that's been ripped in half or shreds and then taped back together it has become unacceptable if asked to present it.
