So annoying to have different volume levels on a homemade DVD.

Featured Replies

I've just been doing a couple of compilation music MP3 DVD's to play in the car and have found that some tracks are really loud and others I have to crank up the volume. This isn't music from different eras, but all recorded in the 2000's, so why the difference in sound levels? As I understand it there is no program that can adjust them all to the same level.

You need to 'normalize' them.

Once I have all the music normalised in MP Gain how do I copy it so I can burn it? There is no right click copy function when I highlight the files.

Just burn the files the same way you normally do.

So the original files have been normalised by MP3gain? I can just delete the ones that are still in the MP3gain box?

It doesn't make new copies of the files, just alters them. Once mp3gain has done its thing, just close it and use the files as you normally would.

Great! Thanks a lot.

Bear in mind each time you open an MP3 and then resave it you are compressing it again, this reduces sound quality.

If you have the uncompressed wav's, work on them and then save to MP3.

Nope. That's not how mp3gain works - it doesn't decode and re-encode the files, so there is no loss of quality.

^^^ Interesting, I've been looking for something like that, cheers for the info.
