I am married with a 10 year old step daughter a 15 month old baby and my wife is three months pregnant. I do not work in Thailand and have no intention to. My family is supported form funds brought from the UK throughout the year.

Last year I was entitled to a year non immigrant o multi entry visa, it seems this week I'm only entitled to a three month single entry visa.

I very much hope this new rule is very temporary, if I'm to stay in Thailand for the rest of my days as I wish, I will spend about a year of it away from my Thai family applying for 3 month visa's in Malaysia.

Just looking for a bit of respect after all I am human.

Bad luck on that :o

One question:- Was this your FIRST non-o from PENANG, or had you previously got a multi from PENANG ??

My reason for asking is that it has been reported previously that Penang were only issuing singles to newbies and would still issue a multi to persons who had already got a visa from them.

I went to the local immigration office this was not an option they gave me. Would this still be possible now ?

Sunbelt will be better to answer, but it appears that you may now be able to use this option :o

What is the source of your overseas funds?

I normally bring lump sum over once or twice a year, as it is paid as a dividend by my company.

Hey there. I got a Non Immigrant O (marriage visa) from Singapore in July, 24 hour wait, no questions asked. Just show your marriage cert and birth certs for you kids, and dress respectably. No funds needed to be shown, i did have the funds to show them but was told not required. However , that was then . I dont know whether this still applies after Oct 1st.. Air asia and tiger airways have decent cheap flights if you book in advance.. As for penang, i have been twice with all the proper paperwork in hand and even the wife and kids in tow, and have NEVER gotten a multiple entry visa, just single entries.. Regards.

Believe the whole point of a non-imm 'O' based on marriage is so that you can enter the kingdom in order to get the proper 'extension of stay' for your circumstances. As crap as it sounds, any other way than depositing the 400k, or 40k per month, or combination, or whatever the status quo today, and you're bending the rules somewhat. It's just good fortune that they were handing out the multis in the SEA region before. If you applied in the UK at Hull you should be fine.

Can't see why immigration would say you can't do the extension, because you qualify by being married and have the doe? Perhaps you accidentally let it slip that you were Jack the Ripper in your former life? :o
